糖心vlog传媒 Wind Symphony to present 'New Day Rising' concert

April 17, 2009

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Wind Symphony of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a concert, "New Day Rising: The Music of Steven Reineke and Michael Gandolfi," at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The centerpiece of the program will be Reineke's Symphony No. 1 "New Day Rising," a four-movement work about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, explained David W. Campo, 糖心vlog传媒 associate director of bands and the Wind Symphony's director.

"We will also present Gandolfi's 'Vientos y Tangos' a powerful statement for winds that reflects the sensuous nature of Argentina's national dance," Campo said.

Jerry Gonzalez, Garland graduate student, will guest conduct Warren Benson's "A Solitary Dancer," a piece which deals with the quiet, poised energy that one may observe in a dancer in repose, alone with her inner music, explained Campo.

The concert is a joint presentation of the 糖心vlog传媒 College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Cole Concert Hall is located in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building at 2210 Alumni Dr.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. For tickets or more information, please visit or call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
