糖心vlog传媒 bands to present free outdoor concert

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University bands will present a free "Concert in the Park" at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in the wooded area in front of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, honorary band service fraternity and sorority, will be selling $5 hamburger plates that include a hamburger, chips and a drink.
"We invite the 糖心vlog传媒 and Nacogdoches community to come join us for some great music by all four bands," said Fred J. Allen, 糖心vlog传媒 director of bands.
The concert will open with the University Band performing Rick Kirby's "American Fanfare," directed by graduate assistant Corey Daniel of Lafayette, La. Undergraduate Assistant Justin Allen of Spring will direct the band's presentation of Leroy Anderson's "Ticonderoga."
Under the direction of Brett A. Richardson, 糖心vlog传媒 assistant director of bands, the Symphonic Band will play Aaron Copland's "Promise of Living" and Henry Fillmore's march "His Honor."
The Wind Symphony, directed by 糖心vlog传媒 Associate Director of Bands David W. Campo, will perform "Sinfonians March" by Clifton Williams and "Ebullience" by Stephen Lias, 糖心vlog传媒 professor of composition.
Under Allen's baton, the Wind Ensemble will close the concert with John Philip Sousa's "Fairest of the Fair," Sam Hazo's "Exultate" and "Polka and Fugue" by Jaromir Winberger.
"'Polka and Fugue' will be an exciting finale to the concert," said Allen. "It closes with 50 additional brass players from the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band."
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be presented in Room 121 of the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr.
