糖心vlog传媒's Chamber Music in the Pines Festival continues with 'Something Borrowed'

Ivo Ivanov, violinist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, will be one of the featured musicians during the third concert of the 糖心vlog传媒 Chamber Music in the Pines Festival at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, in Cole Concert Hall.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - "Something Borrowed," the third of the four concerts included in the 2010 Chamber Music in the Pines Festival, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, in Cole Concert Hall. The annual festival is a joint presentation of the 糖心vlog传媒 College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
Guest musicians Misha Galaganov, associate professor of viola at Texas Christian University, and Ivo Ivanov, violinist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, will join 糖心vlog传媒 music faculty members Jennifer Dalmas, violin, and Evgeni Raychev, cello, in presenting a string trio and two string quartets.
"Each of the pieces included on the program ties in to the concert's title, 'Something Borrowed,' in a slightly different way," explained Dalmas, the festival's director.
"The first work, J.S. Bach's 'Goldberg Variations,' is one of the great staples of the keyboard repertoire, borrowed here by the strings," Dalmas said. "And the next composer on the program, Charles Ives, borrowed lots of hymn and folk tunes for his first string quartet."
"Finally, the string quartet by Alexander Borodin has a gorgeous slow movement with a melody that was famously borrowed in the 1950s for the Broadway show 'Kismet,'" Dalmas continued.
The Chamber Music in the Pines Festival will conclude with a 2:30 p.m. concert, "Something Blue," on Sunday, Aug. 15, followed by a public reception sponsored by the 糖心vlog传媒 Friends of Music.
Each of the concerts is located in Cole Concert Hall of the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building, 22222 Alumni Dr. on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
