糖心vlog传媒 Wind Ensemble to present 'Bits and Pieces' concert

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The 糖心vlog传媒 Wind Ensemble will present a concert titled "Bits and Pieces" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

"This concert features the 55-member Wind Ensemble performing in groups of differing sizes," said Fred J. Allen, 糖心vlog传媒 director of bands and the ensemble's conductor. "Various combinations will be presented, from a piece written for nine instruments to one for the full band."

The concert will open with American composer Joseph Turrin's "Jazzalogue No. 1," which Allen describes as a fanfare for brass in a jazz style.

Brett A. Richardson, 糖心vlog传媒 assistant director of bands, will guest conduct "Petite Symphonie" by French composer Charles Gounod, and graduate student Michelle King will guest conduct a march by Malcolm Arnold, "The Padstow Lifeboat."

The program also includes works by Giovanni Gabrieli and Ralph Vaughan Williams. The concert will close with John Mackey's "Aurora Awakes."

The concert is a joint presentation of the 糖心vlog传媒 College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Cole Concert Hall is located in the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr.
