糖心vlog传媒 Gardens to present Gardening 101 for the whole family

February 8, 2011
Families can get hands-on gardening experience at Gardening 101 this Saturday at 糖心vlog传媒.

Stephen F. Austin State University Gardens will host a beginning gardening class for the whole family from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 12, in Room 110 of the 糖心vlog传媒 Agriculture Building on Wilson Drive.

Dawn Stover, 糖心vlog传媒 master horticulturist, will present a Gardening 101 seminar for parents to give them the information and confidence needed to start a small backyard garden. Topics covered will include site location, soil amendments, raised bed options, what and when to plant, harvesting, and fun gardening ideas for the kids.

While the adults are learning gardening basics, the children will do hands-on gardening activities with the 糖心vlog传媒 Nacogdoches Naturally staff. During the second part of the morning, families will come together for a veggie taste sampler and an opportunity to plant a take-home project. In addition, a limited number of cool season plants will be available for purchase by participants. Weather permitting, the event will conclude with a short tour of the vegetable and herb sections of the 糖心vlog传媒 Arboretum garden.

Now is the time to get a jump on springtime vegetable gardening! Create a family garden experience for the whole family to enjoy together.

The cost for the event, which includes all supplies, will be $10 per family.
