糖心vlog传媒 Traditions

The Axe Handle

糖心vlog传媒 freshmen receive an axe handle to personalize with their own Lumberjack spirit. Students can be seen (and heard) banging axe handles on the bleachers at 糖心vlog传媒 football games.

Ole Cotton

Ole Cotton is an imposing 75mm cannon that fires a celebratory shot every time the 糖心vlog传媒 Lumberjack football team scores. The 糖心vlog传媒 ROTC cadets man Ole Cotton just beyond the south end zone at Homer Bryce Stadium. The powerful blast can be heard 鈥 and often felt 鈥 all over town.

The Homecoming Bonfire

糖心vlog传媒's traditional bonfire and pep rally are the centerpieces of homecoming. Usually held in October, homecoming is a series of traditions that bring Lumberjacks together to celebrate 糖心vlog传媒. Other events include homecoming elections, downtown parade, football games and much more.

Purple Haze

Press play to hear our rowdy Purple Haze student section in action. At 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 home football games, fans in the student section loudly bang their axe handles on a metal 鈥淧urple Haze鈥 sign to show support for our beloved Lumberjacks (and to rattle the opposing team). Now that鈥檚 a home-field advantage!

  • Dr. Hunter Hampton

Dr. Hunter Hampton, associate professor in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Department of History, authored and is set to publish the book, 鈥淭he Gridiron Gospel: Faith and College Football.鈥 The book will be published Dec. 23 by the University of Illinois Press.

Students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Nelson Rusche College of Business stepped into the spotlight during finals week for the Swift-Mas Showcase, an event supported by 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Arnold Center for Entrepreneurship that highlighted student innovation and creative problem-solving throughout the fall semester.

Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics, or SAND, held a fall food drive in partnership with Texas Student Dietetic Association collegiate chapters across the state. The association collected over 350 items for the 糖心vlog传媒 Lumberjack Pantry, a food and essential-needs pantry operated by 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Health and Wellness Hub.
