NACOGDOCHES - Metalsmith Tedd McDonah will be on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University Thursday, Jan. 31, through Saturday, Feb. 2, for workshops and demonstrations.

McDonah will give a demonstration from 8 to 10:40 a.m. Thursday in Room 139 of the Art Building. He will also give a presentation at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the art history room 106. Following the presentation, an open house will be held in the metals studio with refreshments and student artwork for viewing.

NACOGDOCHES - The Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony of Stephen F. Austin State University will present "Main Street USA" in a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

The concert is a collection of pieces by American composers, many of whom are from rural areas, according to David W. Campo, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ associate director of bands.

Under the direction of Tamey Anglley, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ assistant director of bands, the Symphonic Band will open the concert with "The Belle of Chicago" by the famous American march composer John Philip Sousa.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ music faculty members Jennifer Dalmas, associate professor of violin and viola, and Andrew Parr, professor of piano, will present "French Music" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in Cole Concert Hall.

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present collaborative faculty and guest recitals in early February as part of its Cole Performing Arts Series.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its University Series "Expressions," the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts will present "Broadway's Next H!T Musical" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Director Joe Berlinger's "Under African Skies" will be presented in a free screening at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, as part of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art's First Friday Film Series.

The documentary about singer/songwriter Paul Simon's 2011 journey back to South Africa 25 years after releasing his album "Graceland" will be shown in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student production of Jessica Goldberg's "Refuge" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. All performances are in the Downstage Theatre, located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

Wylie senior Brian Butler will direct the one-act play, which Butler describes as a "darkly funny and touching story of four people searching for their refuge, or shelter, to guard them from the hard reality of life."

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are still available for the upcoming performance of internationally acclaimed pianist Anton Kuerti, who will present a concert on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University as part of the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ College of Fine Art's 2012-13 University Series.

Kuerti's performance is slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in W.M. Turner Auditorium in the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

Townsend is a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow

Stephen F. Austin State University will welcome a member of the Kennedy family to campus for a weeklong visit in February.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former lieutenant governor of Maryland and former U.S. deputy assistant attorney general, is the eldest child of Ethel Kennedy and the late U.S. Senator and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. She will arrive in Nacogdoches on Feb. 3 and will participate in a public interview at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.
