NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Antonio 鈥淣io鈥 Ajero is known throughout wide-reaching piano circles as an exceptional pianist and musician 鈥 having won multiple awards at state, national and international music festivals or competitions; having received acceptance and scholarship offers from renowned music schools and conservatories; and having been awarded performances with noted symphony orchestras in Texas and at the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina 鈥 all of which he achieved before high school graduation.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host a fruit research field day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 featuring kiwifruit, muscadine grapes, blueberries, figs, feijoas and other fruits.
 
Speakers will include Dr. David Creech, director of 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens, and Dr. Tim Hartmann and Dr. Justin Scheiner, both of Texas A&M University鈥檚 Department of Horticultural Sciences.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business has partnered with Smith Sawmill Service to provide 糖心vlog传媒 students with a direct path to business careers in wood processing, an industry that鈥檚 integral to East Texas鈥 economy.
 

糖心vlog传媒 regents approve construction projects, employee compensation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents concluded its quarterly meeting Tuesday in which it approved construction and maintenance projects delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, heard results of a campus climate survey, and approved the university鈥檚 2022-23 operating budget that will include a budget supplement for faculty and staff compensation.
 

糖心vlog传媒 music alumnus Miller named Houston Chamber Choir executive director


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University music alumnus Brian Miller has been named executive director of the Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir.

Miller, who previously served as chorus manager with the Houston Symphony, joins the Houston Chamber Choir with more than a decade of experience in the professional and educational choral realm. He earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting in 2013 from 糖心vlog传媒, where he studied with Dr. Tim King, and his undergraduate degree in music education is from Southwestern University.

糖心vlog传媒 regents approve faculty, staff appointments


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 During its quarterly meeting, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents recognized student, faculty and staff achievements, as well as approved faculty and staff appointments.

The board recognized the 糖心vlog传媒 student team that earned Best Delegation honors at the Midwest Model European Union competition. The team鈥檚 faculty sponsor is Dr. Steven Galatas, associate professor of government.

The board also recognized academic advisors; 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team; and the Division of Finance and Administration.

Donation funds 糖心vlog传媒 center, supports entrepreneurial spirit in East Texas


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 During its quarterly meeting this week, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents approved the naming of a new academic center and facility in the university鈥檚 Rusche College of Business after Greg Arnold 鈥87, CEO of TAC - The Arnold Companies, whose significant donation is being used to establish the center.

糖心vlog传媒 alum and career educator to offer August commencement address


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Mike Moses, a career educator and Stephen F. Austin State University alumnus, will offer the commencement address during the university鈥檚 Aug. 6 graduation ceremony.

Holding bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees from 糖心vlog传媒 and a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, Moses has been an educator for over 40 years.

He served as the general superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District from 2001 through 2004 and as the Texas Tech University System's deputy chancellor for systems operations between 1999 and 2001. 

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Dr. Amanda M. Rudolph to work on new initiative with the Association of Teacher Educators


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Dr. Amanda M. Rudolph, professor of education studies in the James I. Perkins College of Education, was selected to participate in the inaugural Inquiry Initiative sponsored by the Association of Teacher Educators. The initiative is a unique, collaborative exploration of teacher education practices with a focus on opportunity gaps in education. 

Rudolph was one of just 80 university-based teacher education scholars from around the U.S. who was chosen to participate.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host its annual Fabulous Fall Festival Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 1 and 2鈥痑t the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. in historic Nacogdoches.
