糖心vlog传媒's Human Neuroscience Lab offers high-tech equipment for student, faculty research


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A blue cap with protruding wires maps the brain activity of Stephen F. Austin State University graduate student T.J. Swift as he demonstrates neuro-feedback equipment in the university's Human Neuroscience Lab.

During the demonstration, a monitor displays a digital version of T.J.'s brain with reds, greens and yellows illustrating the electrical signals, while T.J.'s wife and fellow graduate student, Rebecca Recio-Swift, administers a study to track T.J.'s attention.

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens' Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series to feature Arkansas container gardening specialist


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St. Dr. James A. Robbins will present "Reflections on the Changing World of Ornamentals in the USA."

Concerto winners to perform with Orchestra of the Pines


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Orchestra of the Pines at Stephen F. Austin State University will spotlight this year鈥檚 concerto winners in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Each work in the program, which is titled 鈥淎 Musical Homage,鈥 pays homage to another work, according to Dr. Gene H. Moon, director of orchestras at 糖心vlog传媒. The program opens with 鈥淟e Tombeau de Couperin,鈥 a work by Maurice Ravel, who pays homage to the Baroque master, Fran莽ois Couperin, Moon said.

Art students assist in curating 鈥楽tate of the Union鈥 exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will host 鈥淪tate of the Union鈥 exhibition Oct. 4 through Nov. 5 in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches. An opening reception is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

Backstage magic takes center stage in musical production

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students in the School of Human Sciences met with Angie Shoffner, nutrition education specialist for the East Texas Food Bank, Monday to kick off a six-week program and class project, Cooking Matters.

Danceworks: Reflections production to feature 糖心vlog传媒 dance program, Repertory Dance Company


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 dance program and Repertory Dance Company will showcase senior choreographic works and company pieces during its production of Danceworks: Reflections, which premieres at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in Turner Auditorium on the university鈥檚 campus.

A second showing is scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m. Oct. 22. Tickets cost $8 for students, $10 for faculty and staff members and seniors and $12 for general admission and can be purchased at the door.

糖心vlog传媒 announces test-optional admissions for 2021 semesters


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Mirroring state and national trends to streamline admission procedures in the wake of the ongoing pandemic, Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Admissions has announced it will begin test-optional admissions for all 2021 terms.

This decision was prompted by the cancellation of SAT and ACT exam administration as testing centers across the state struggle to accommodate test participants due to required social distancing standards.
