Business leaders to speak at 糖心vlog传媒 Leadership Summit Nov. 3


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business will host the 糖心vlog传媒 Leadership Summit from 2 - 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Theater on the university鈥檚 campus.

Dr. Trey Turner, executive director of development at 糖心vlog传媒, said the summit will feature a panel discussion with seven successful alumni about leadership principles and business and corporate issues.

Swingin' Axes, Aces to perform music of jazz greats Nestico, Holman


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present the Swingin鈥 Axes and Swingin鈥 Aces jazz bands performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Among the highlights of the concert will be a performance of Radiohead鈥檚 鈥淓verything In Its Right Place,鈥 arranged by James Miley, said Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone and director of the Axes.

鈥淭his arrangement of this modern rock song uses electronic effects and vocals, some of which I鈥檒l be singing, to create a contemporary jazz sound,鈥 Scott said.

Acclaimed poet to present at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Department of English and Creative Writing is hosting Dr. David Baker, a poet, professor and editor, who will read a selection of his personal works at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Dugas Liberal Arts North, Room 142.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Hospitality administration and fashion merchandising students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 School of Human Sciences are raising awareness about sustainability with a 鈥淕reen is the New Black鈥 event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the Culinary Caf茅, located in the Education Annex Building on the university鈥檚 campus.

The event will feature a three-course dinner, a runway show and a fashion gallery tour, which will showcase the students鈥 event-planning, culinary and design skills.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Children鈥檚 Performing Arts Series at Stephen F. Austin State University offers more than just great national touring shows for young audiences.

糖心vlog传媒 Wind Ensemble to perform music of composer Biedenbender


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a concert featuring the music of American composer David Biedenbender at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Biedenbender recently joined the faculty at Michigan State University after teaching at Boise State University.

鈥淗e will be here for the concert, and to speak to our classes,鈥 said Fred J. Allen, director of bands and the conductor for the Wind Ensemble. 鈥淲e will perform two of his compositions on this concert.鈥

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University Rusche College of Business students attended a workshop Tuesday with alumnus Jeff Wagner, partner at OneTrust Home Loans, who discussed tips on how to secure employment after graduation.

鈥淚n the Rusche College of Business, we believe it is important to augment the student experience with perspectives from outside the campus,鈥 Dr. Tim Bisping, dean of the Rusche College of Business, said. 鈥淚t is vital to introduce students to professionals who can share their experiences and insight into the corporate world.鈥

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Jacks Council on Family Relations collecting items for Thanksgiving Homebound project


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 As the seasons change and the holidays approach, Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Jacks Council on Family Relations is preparing for its annual food drive, Thanksgiving Homebound.

In 2011, the student-led group started Thanksgiving Homebound as a way to help area families during the holidays. Initially, the group fed nine families. That number has now grown to more than 100.
