糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 combined choirs, orchestra to perform Mozart鈥檚 Requiem


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The combined choirs at Stephen F. Austin State University along with the Orchestra of the Pines will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart鈥檚 Requiem KV 626 (completed by Franz Xaver S眉ssmayr) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Conducted by Dr. Michael Murphy, this masterwork concert will feature 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 A Cappella Choir, Murphy, director; Choral Union and Women鈥檚 Choir, Dr. Tod Fish, director; and the Orchestra of the Pines, Dr. Gene H. Moon, director.

Contemporary Ensemble concert CANCELED


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A concert by the Contemporary Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University, originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus, has been canceled.

Students win Best Media Plan at American Advertising Federation competition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A team of mass communication, art and marketing students from Stephen F. Austin State University recently won Best Media Plan at the American Advertising Federation鈥檚 National Student Advertising Competition in Corpus Christi.

糖心vlog传媒 students to present during chemistry and biochemistry research symposium


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Fifteen Stephen F. Austin State University seniors from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will participate in a research symposium beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Math Building.

鈥淚n our undergraduate research experience, all students pick a research topic and faculty mentor according to their personal interest and career goals,鈥 said Dr. Michele Harris, professor and assistant chair of the department.

An ongoing project through Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture provides Texans with the opportunity to contribute valuable scientific data by simply documenting a common, albeit less than appealing, presence along our highways 鈥 roadkill.

Stroud named distinguished alumnus


Sid Stroud was named 2018 Distinguished Alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture during the college鈥檚 annual scholarship banquet held this month.

Stroud graduated with a Bachelor of Science in forestry from 糖心vlog传媒 in 1978, and has served in a wide array of research, environmental and regulatory positions in his nearly 44 years with Luminant, a subsidiary of Vistra Energy and the largest coal mining operation in Texas.

糖心vlog传媒 student outreach program offers students opportunity to volunteer around the world


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students interested in making a difference in lives across the globe now have that opportunity with the student chapter of the medical outreach program Volunteers Around the World.

Students involved in the program can work with patients and doctors, distribute medications, and teach classes on health hygiene and nutrition in clinics located in Central and South America and Asia.

The student chapter was started by Mary Dang, junior biology major from Sugar Land, after a medical mission trip to Costa Rica.

Rockin鈥 Axes to perform music from 鈥90s through new millennium


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Rockin鈥 Axes at Stephen F. Austin State University will continue performing music of 鈥淭he 鈥90s and the New Millennium鈥 when the student group performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

糖心vlog传媒 Wind Symphony to present 鈥楻ed Sky鈥 concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Symphony at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淩ed Sky,鈥 a concert featuring the music of J. Clifton Williams, Anthony Barfield and Steven Reineke, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, will perform on Barfield鈥檚 composition for trombone and band, 鈥淩ed Sky.鈥

糖心vlog传媒 bands to present annual Concert in the Park


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the annual Concert in the Park Sunday, April 29, in the wooded area along Vista Drive and in front of the Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. The concert begins at 2 p.m. and is free to the public.

All four 糖心vlog传媒 concert bands will perform. Opening the concert will be the University Band, under the direction of David Campo, associate director of bands, and graduate assistant Brandon Beavers.
