ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ announces fall enrollment figures


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University has recorded a fall enrollment of 12,772 students.

This figure represents a slight decrease from the all-time high ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ enrollment of 12,999 recorded in fall 2012. University officials attributed the 1.7-percent decrease to various factors, including higher ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ admission standards and graduation of the largest class in school history in May.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Faculty members of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will be the featured performers during the annual Pi Kappa Lambda Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in Cole Concert Hall on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

"This concert showcases the talents of our diverse faculty," said Deborah Dalton, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ associate professor of voice and president of the local chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society.

East Texas Historical Association to present Lale Lecture Sept. 26


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The East Texas Historical Association will present the 17th Georgiana and Max S. Lale Lecture in September at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Dr. Quintard Taylor of the University of Washington will speak at 7:30 p.m., Thursday Sept. 26, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.

When Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College opened its doors in 1923, the emphasis was in establishing an instructional program that would produce qualified teachers.

In addition to the academic and elective courses offered at the new college, athletics also was immediately incorporated into campus life with students choosing the Lumberjack as the Stephen F. Austin mascot.
