ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ A Cappella Choir to perform

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ regents approve new academic division


A new Division of Communication and Contemporary Culture being established at Stephen F. Austin State University will house two new academic programs within the College of Liberal and Applied Arts, as well as a future research center.

Local artists' works to be exhibited in 'The Webster Show'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Nacogdoches Art League will open "The Webster Show" at Friday, Oct. 24, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.

The exhibition is the brainchild of local artist Wally Knight, who has chosen 26 pages from a dictionary, one page for each letter of the alphabet. In turn, 26 local artists and members of the Nacogdoches Art League have each taken a page and used it as inspiration to create art in a variety of media.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ selected for national program to address financial concerns: America's Future initiative promotes financial responsibility, civic involvement


NACOGDOCHES, Texas-Students at Stephen F. Austin State University will have the chance to be part of a solution to America's current economic crisis.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ was recently selected as one of nine institutions to participate in a new initiative called America's Future: Protecting the Fiscal Health of Our Democracy, a program of the American Democracy Project. The project is a national effort to promote civic engagement sponsored by over 230 universities of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Shirley Watterston, seated, was recently honored by Ed and Gwen Cole with a hand-crafted bench they had designed and built for The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in recognition of her years of involvement with the Nacogdoches arts community. Sam Wright of Wright Custom Cabinets designed and built the bench on which Watterston is seated.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ presents Dallas trumpeter in guest recital


Ryan Anthony, principal trumpet with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and former member of the Canadian Brass, will present a guest trumpet recital at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in the Music Recital Hall of the Wright Music Building on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

World-renowned string quartet to perform at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts will present the world-renowned Hugo Wolf Quartett in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. The concert is a part of the 2008-2009 University Series.

Guest pianist to perform with the Orchestra of the Pines


Kwan Yi, winner of the 2008 Schmidbauer Competition, will perform Franz Liszt's Second Piano Concerto during the Orchestra of the Pines' "Grandeur and Virtuosity" concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.
