NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 On Thursday, Stephen F. Austin State University announced its naming of Elkins High School as a partner school chosen for inclusion in the university鈥檚 Distinguished High School Program.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Singin鈥 Axes, Kantorei choirs to perform works by living composers


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥  The Singin鈥 Axes and Kantorei choirs at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淲ide Open Spaces: A Concert of Living Composers鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Dr. Tod Fish, associate director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒 and conductor of the choirs, chose the theme because of 鈥渢he endless possibilities for creativity that contemporary composers have at their disposal.鈥

Vilseck to present recital with various styles, energy levels, instruments


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. James Vilseck, adjunct professor of percussion at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a recital featuring a variety of styles and energy levels when he performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Composers whose works will be included on the program are Alejandro Vi帽ao, Andy Akiho, Ella Macens, John Psathas, Javier Alvarez, Robert Oetomo and Elliott Carter.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Stone Fort Museum announces 2021 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Stone Fort Museum has named Sheryl and Steve Hartz, and the late Mable Ferguson Hall as the 2021 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients.

The museum's biennial heritage preservation award was established in honor of the Cum Concilio Club's dedication to the preservation of Nacogdoches' cultural and historical landscape. The award recognizes a group or individual who has made significant contributions to the preservation of East Texas鈥 history and Nacogdoches' heritage.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Swingin鈥 Axes and Swingin鈥 Aces jazz bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform a variety of jazz styles when the student ensembles perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

糖心vlog传媒 announces recipients of 2022 Research and Creative Activity grants


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Research and Graduate Studies has announced the recipients of its annual Research and Creative Activity grants. The RCA grant program was created to help support the initial research efforts of 糖心vlog传媒 faculty members and to help prepare them and their research for submission to national grant programs.

糖心vlog传媒 students assist the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in collecting statewide data on park visitation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Each year, more than 8 million people visit the 90 state parks, historic sites and natural areas managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. In order to continue to meet the needs of visitors and offer relevant programming that reaches all Texans, the agency seeks to better understand exactly who these guests are and what motivates them to visit. Three Stephen F. Austin State University graduate students are crisscrossing the state to find out. 

鈥業n Shakespeare and the Bible鈥 rescheduled for March 18-19


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre鈥檚 presentation of the student-directed one-act play 鈥淚n Shakespeare and the Bible,鈥 originally slated for Feb. 4 and 5, has been rescheduled for March 18 and 19.

The play had to be rescheduled due to the campus closure on Feb. 4 in expectation of inclement weather.

Thornton Wilder鈥檚 鈥淚n Shakespeare and the Bible鈥 will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
