糖心vlog传媒 Music Prep hosting Middle School Choir Camp


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will host its annual Middle School Choir Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus, according to Alba Madrid, Music Prep director.

Fee is $20 per participant, and those attending should bring their Region 21 All-Region music, a pencil, water and a snack. Concessions can be purchased during scheduled breaks. Lunch is not provided. The west dining hall in the Baker Pattillo Student Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series returns through 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 After being postponed then canceled more than a year ago as a result of the pandemic, Stephen F. Austin State University's 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will bring back its monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series next month with a presentation by gardens staff members.

Dawn Stover, research associate, and Jordan Cunningham, greenhouse technician, will present 鈥淧lant Sale Preview鈥 at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Brundrett Conservation Education Building in the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.

糖心vlog传媒 Music Prep offers new beginner classes for all ages


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music has announced new classes that will appeal to younger musicians and adult hobbyists alike.

鈥淢usical Moments鈥 piano classes for adults begins Sept. 7. 鈥淢usical Moments鈥 was written to create a stress-free, enjoyable learning experience for the beginning adult student, according to Alba Madrid, Music Prep director.

糖心vlog传媒 art faculty exhibition features Collins鈥 unique artistry


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 annual School of Art Faculty Exhibition will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Each year, the faculty exhibition features a wide variety of artworks in ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, prints, metals and mixed media, according to Christopher Talbot, director of the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Art.

New services offered to 糖心vlog传媒 students this fall


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 First-generation students at Stephen F. Austin State University will have two additional resources beginning this fall 鈥 First Generation Go and CareerSpring.
 
First Generation Go, a new organization for students whose parents did not complete a university degree, is housed in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Student Success Center and provides members with a cluster of classmates who share the same experiences and can together brave the ups and downs of college life. Students also have access to a national network of mentors and employers.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Fans of the 12 X 12 Scholarship Fundraiser for the Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University will be excited to know that the benefit that funds scholarships and grants for students in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Art is returning this fall.

Mark your calendars now for Oct. 2 through 16 to make sure you have time to participate in silent bidding, and plan now to attend the art party on Saturday, Oct. 16, all at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches. The event was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

糖心vlog传媒 researchers assist in multi-agency effort to return alligator snapping turtles to natural habitat


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Twenty-one adult alligator snapping turtles were recently released back into East Texas waterways as part of a coordinated effort by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Stephen F. Austin State University, Sabine River Authority, Northeast Texas Municipal Water District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Houston Zoo and the Turtle Survival Alliance, among others, after being seized in a trafficking attempt.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University and Nacogdoches-based Fredonia Brewery have created a beverage named Purple Lights to celebrate the university鈥檚 tradition of displaying purple lights on campus when its athletic teams are victorious.

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens to host Kiwifruit Field Day


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host its fifth Kiwifruit Field Day with presentations on the growing, research and marketing of kiwifruit.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Lunch will be provided, followed by a tour of the kiwifruit field trials at 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens from 1 to 4 p.m.
