NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Nacogdoches community members who want to celebrate Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month are invited to join an event hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, outside at the Baker Pattillo Student Center Plaza.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Kantorei Purple and Kantorei White choirs at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform a virtual concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, that will feature works from the Renaissance era along with favorite hymns.

The concert鈥檚 theme, 鈥淭he Joy of Singing,鈥 is designed to showcase the importance of choral performance in a COVID world that silenced voices for a period of time, according to Dr. Tod Fish, associate director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University has announced it will hold traditional in-person commencement ceremonies for December 2020 graduates with a number of new measures aimed at helping ensure attendee safety.

Additionally, May and August 2020 graduates are invited to participate in the December ceremony. Both of these commencement groups鈥 graduation ceremonies transitioned to virtual formats after the outbreak of COVID-19 in the spring.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Gender roles is the theme for the Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Multicultural Affairs鈥 upcoming Something to Chew On fall series.

鈥淎t this event, participants will identify and challenge the rules and expectations society has placed on individuals due to their gender,鈥 said Lauren Roach, the OMA student ambassador organizing the event. 鈥淭he theme was inspired by various pop culture personalities who choose to identify themselves outside these gender roles.鈥

For 糖心vlog传媒 director of student engagement, work is based on experience


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Saville Harris meets a lot of students.

In his role as assistant director of student engagement and Greek life, and in the years leading up to his current position, Harris has befriended, inspired and even consoled hundreds of Stephen F. Austin State University undergrads.

The names and faces might change each year, but Harris鈥 go-to mantra remains the same: 鈥淎 few simple words can make someone鈥檚 day.鈥

糖心vlog传媒 reports fall enrollment numbers


There is a positive outlook among administrators at Stephen F. Austin State University, as fall 2020 enrollment numbers were much better than many educational forecasts had predicted, based on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Fall enrollment totaled 12,620 students, a decrease of 349 students, or 2.7%. However, there was a 10.7% increase in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 graduate enrollment, from 1,475 students in fall 2019 to 1,633 students in fall 2020.
