NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Counseling Clinic at Stephen F. Austin State University is hosting the following free therapy groups for all 糖心vlog传媒 students and Texas residents via Zoom.

鈥    Stress Management and Relaxation Group, 3 p.m., Monday
鈥    Virtual Support Group for Caregivers, 5 p.m., Monday
鈥    Career Exploration Group, 4 p.m., Tuesday
鈥    Virtual LGBTQ+ Support Group for High School Students, 5 p.m., Wednesday

All group sessions last an hour and will run through the end of the semester.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Sarah Straub, assistant professor of education studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, was awarded the 2020-22 Montgomery Professorship for Humane Education in the James I. Perkins College of Education.

糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra to perform works by Tchaikovsky, Milhaud


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 virtual performance on Tuesday, Oct. 20, will feature music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Darius Milhaud.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. and accessible through live streaming free of charge at , the concert鈥檚 main feature is Tchaikovsky鈥檚 鈥淪erenade for Strings,鈥 according to Dr. Gregory Grabowski, the orchestra鈥檚 conductor.

鈥淭he Tchaikovsky (piece) is one of the biggest standards of string repertoire,鈥 Grabowski said.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Chamber Singers at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a virtual concert entitled 鈥淪ojourn: An Evening of Sonnets, Spirituals and Love鈥 when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

糖心vlog传媒 offering in-person and teletherapy services for speech and language disorders


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders at Stephen F. Austin State University is now providing in-person as well as teletherapy appointments for clients of all ages.

Services include evaluation and treatment of individuals who have difficulty communicating due to articulation, voice, fluency, language or cognitive impairments (for example, post-stroke issues or traumatic brain injury) or who have issues with swallowing.

糖心vlog传媒 A Cappella Choir to perform new music written in response to pandemic


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The A Cappella Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a virtual concert entitled 鈥淎utumn Splendor and Solemn Ritual鈥 when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.

The choir will perform works by composers from Slovenia, Germany, Italy and Norway, along with new music written in response to the COVID pandemic, according to Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music.

Nacogdoches High School students inducted into 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 STEM Research and Learning Center


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Twenty-eight Nacogdoches High School students were inducted as the seventh cohort of the STEM Research and Learning Center participants. Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 College of Sciences and Mathematics offers the program to engage students in 9th through 12th grades in real-world, problem-based research and field experiences.
 
Consisting of freshman from Nacogdoches High School, the cohort is immersed in a supportive community of teachers and 糖心vlog传媒 faculty they will be working alongside throughout the program.
 

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 National Coming Out Day event to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs will celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community during its annual National Coming Out Day event Oct. 12.

鈥淭his event is designed to educate the community and promote the inclusion of all people in Nacogdoches County,鈥 said La-Meria Seriale, OMA student ambassador.
