NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Eight Stephen F. Austin State University Criminal Justice Association students attended the annual Southwestern Criminal Justice Association conference Oct. 13 through 15 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The students, accompanied by Drs. George Day and Milt Hill of the 糖心vlog传媒 Department of Government, competed in two events: the Quiz Bowl and the Crime Scene Interpretation competition.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Contemporary Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淢ichael Jackson鈥檚 Greatest Hits of the 鈥80s鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
The ensemble鈥檚 purpose is to allow 糖心vlog传媒 music majors to 鈥渆xperience the many different functions of their instruments,鈥 according to Andrew J. Sperandeo, SRT instructor and director/arranger for the ensemble.

Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Dr. Yalma Vargas will present 鈥淪ugar Maples from USA to Guatemala: Phylogeographic Patterns and Taxonomic Novelties.鈥

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University interior design students will host their fifth annual 鈥淪ilent Night Auction鈥 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau downtown.
糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 American Society of Interior Design and International Interior Design Association student chapters joined forces to orchestrate the fundraiser, which is open to the 糖心vlog传媒 and Nacogdoches communities.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students were among the first-, second- and third-place winning teams at the American Advertising Federation-Houston Student Conference held Oct. 21 and 22 in Houston.
The federation is an association of advertising professionals encompassing all disciplines in the advertising, marketing and communications industries.
Twenty-three 糖心vlog传媒 students in the School of Art; Department of Management, Marketing and International Business; and Department of Mass Communication competed during the conference.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Stone Fort Wind Quintet performing a concert titled 鈥淚nvitation to the Dance鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
Music selections for the program were based on the form of the Baroque instrumental dance suite, according to Charles Gavin, 糖心vlog传媒 professor of horn and chamber music and quintet member.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Madrigal Singers will perform a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
The 糖心vlog传媒 Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Dr. Tim King, director of choral activities in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, is a highly select 16-voice ensemble comprised of members of the A Cappella Choir.
Lauters鈥 works featured at poetry reading
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A poetry reading by Nacogdoches鈥 prize-winning poets Judith and Ken Lauter will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
鈥淩embrandt and Vermeer 鈥 Two Dutch Painters as Seen by Two Nacogdoches Poets鈥 will feature the Lauters reading from their books combining poems and paintings. Ken's book is 鈥淰ermeer in Words,鈥 and Judith's is 鈥淟ight from the Left; poems on paintings by Rembrandt.鈥 Each poem will be accompanied by a full-size color slide of the painting it describes.
