Two Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members will be honored during the annual Gala presented by Stephen F. Austin State University on Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.

Dr. I-Kuai Hung is the recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching, and Dr. Gregory Miller is the recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award for Research.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host its monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building at 1924 Wilson Dr. A year-end review titled "Tales from ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Gardens and Beyond" will be presented by Dr. David Creech.

Sinatra sound-alike to perform Christmas concert at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


Pop sensation Steve Lippia and his big band will present "Simply Sinatra Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in W.M. Turner Auditorium as part of the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ College of Fine Arts' University Series. The vocalist is renowned for his authentic-sounding renditions of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra.

Stephen F. Austin State University horticulturist Dawn Stover will explain how beautiful holiday decorations can be made with items from the garden during a workshop on Saturday, Dec. 4. Using her years of experience as research associate in charge of the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Mast Arboretum, Dawn will share easy techniques for making the perfect wreath and magnolia garland.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Choirs and community chorus to present Handel's 'Messiah'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University combined choirs, Orchestra of the Pines and Nacogdoches Community Chorus will present George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

Handel's three-part oratorio, or unstaged opera, about the life of the messiah, was first performed in 1742. One of the most performed and popular choral works, it is appreciated by audiences all over the globe, said Tim King, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ professor of music and the concert's director.
