NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Music by composers from around the world will be featured in a concert by the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in the Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
The quintet is composed of four ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ faculty members--Gary Wurtz, trumpet; Charles Gavin, horn; Deb Scott, trombone; and J.D. Salas, tuba--and graduate assistant Jarrod Beard, trumpet.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Lufkin musicians Dixon Shanks, Sid Shanks and Eric Chin will be the featured musicians during a joint concert of the Stephen F. Austin State University Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces jazz bands at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.
The Aces, directed by ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ associate professor Deb Scott, will open the concert with a program that includes the "Tonight Show" arrangement of "In the Mood," Gordon Goodwin's "Hunting Wabbits," and Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good."

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a joint concert, "Travelogues," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.
"The program will take the audience on a musical journey to locales such as the Everglades, Paris and Stonehenge," said Brett A. Richardson, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ assistant director of bands and the conductor of the Symphonic Band.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Gala to honor outstanding faculty members
The annual Gala presented by Stephen F. Austin State University will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center. Proceeds from the Gala help build a permanent endowment created by the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Foundation to honor faculty achievement.
The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a candlelight dinner at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Tom Houston Combo and by Dallas-based entertainers TOP, playing a variety of smooth jazz, Motown, disco, oldies and today's hits.
Children's gingerbread house making workshop scheduled
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will offer a gingerbread house making workshop for area first through eighth graders from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, as part of the Creative Art Wednesday program. The class will be held at the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Art Education Graduate House, located at 115 Feazell St., behind Wendy's Restaurant.
Participants will work in groups, with each group creating a gingerbread house that can be entered into the Nine Flags Festival Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays Contest.
