Rachmaninov鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 2 highlight of 糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The 糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 final concert of the spring semester will feature Sergei Rachmaninov鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 2 when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

Conducted by Dr. Gregory Grabowski, director of orchestral activities at 糖心vlog传媒, the orchestra鈥檚 program will be 鈥渙ne of the most beautiful programs the 糖心vlog传媒SO is going to perform this year,鈥 Grabowski said.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Dr. Stephen Taaffe named 2022-23 Regents Scholar, becomes third consecutive College of Liberal and Applied Arts recipient


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Board of Regents recently named Dr. Stephen Taaffe, professor of history, the 2022-23 Regents Scholar during April鈥檚 regularly scheduled meeting. 

The title of Regents Scholar is the highest honor the university can bestow upon a faculty member. The honor is reserved for faculty members who are exemplary role models to the university community. The title is not an academic rank but an honorary title held for the duration of the recipient鈥檚 service to the university. 

糖心vlog传媒 Wind Symphony鈥檚 concert to feature works by Maslanka, Ives, Copley


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Symphony at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program 鈥淭he Road to Now鈥 when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Directed by Dr. Dan Haddad, associate director of bands, the Wind Symphony will perform 鈥淚llumination鈥 by David Maslanka; Variations on 鈥淎merica鈥 by Charles Ives; and 鈥淚n Living Color鈥 by Katahj Copley, among other wind band standards.

SRT student ensembles to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Student ensembles in the Sound Recording Technology program at Stephen F. Austin State University will present concerts Sunday afternoon, April 24, in the Music Recital Hall of Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

糖心vlog传媒 bands to present annual Concert in the Park


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the annual Concert in the Park Sunday, April 24, in the wooded area along Vista Drive and in front of the Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. The concert begins at 2 p.m. and is free to the public.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Scott directing her final jazz band concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Swingin鈥 Axes and Swingin鈥 Aces jazz bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will return from performances at the Wichita Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 23, to present their final concert of the academic year at 7:30 that night in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The night鈥檚 performance will also be the 鈥淟ast Call鈥 for Dr. Deb Scott as director of the Swingin鈥 Axes. Scott has decided to step down from leading the Axes to focus more on teaching and performing as professor of trombone at 糖心vlog传媒.

糖心vlog传媒 Elliott College of Fine Arts Dean鈥檚 Circle announces 2022 award recipients


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts Dean鈥檚 Circle at Stephen F. Austin State University will recognize seven students and the newest recipient of the endowed fine arts professorship during the presentation of the annual Dean鈥檚 Awards at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Early Childhood Laboratory receives funding


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Early Childhood Laboratory was awarded $650,827 through the 2022 Child Care Relief Fund. The funding will be received in four installments and will be used for professional development, supplies, personnel, equipment, facilities and food services programs.  

The funding was designed to help child care centers recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
