NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Symphony Orchestra at Stephen F. Austin State University recently presented a concert for approximately 450 Nacogdoches ISD second grade students in an educational outreach initiative and collaborative partnership between the school district and 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music and its Music Preparatory Division.
鈥淭he primary goal of the concert was to introduce young children to classical music and provide them with an exhilarating live performance experience in the newly renovated Turner Auditorium at 糖心vlog传媒,鈥 said Alba Madrid, director of Music Prep.

Van Kley, Cunningham collaborate on piney woods plant manual
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 For years, the lack of a comprehensive local flora manual for East Texas has been an impediment for Dr. James Van Kley鈥檚 ongoing research as a professor of biology at Stephen F. Austin State University. The problem is nearing its end as Part 1 of the book 鈥淗erbaceous Plants of the Pineywoods of East Texas and Louisiana鈥 was published in October with text written by Van Kley and illustrations created by Bruce Lyndon Cunningham, a Nacogdoches-based illustrator.

Scott, Vacca to conduct 糖心vlog传媒 Trombone Choir concert
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a diverse program ranging from a fanfare for brass instruments to works of jazz when students perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, will conduct the Trombone choir in its performance of 鈥淔anfare for the Vienna Philharmonic鈥 by Richard Strauss and arranged by Dr. Bruce D. Tychinski, professor of trombone at the University of Delaware.
