NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration that will support the center鈥檚 mission of boosting regional industries and communities.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Chamber Singers at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淥de to Music,鈥 a concert extolling the virtues and wonder of music, when the ensemble and guests perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
 

糖心vlog传媒 leadership honor society hosts kickoff event for yearlong mentorship


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Omicron Delta Kappa hosted a kickoff for the Leaders of Tomorrow program with a retreat Saturday in the Baker Pattillo Student Center and Norton HPE Complex on campus, marking the beginning of a yearlong mentorship with Nacogdoches County eighth graders.

糖心vlog传媒 construction management program to host open house of new lab facility


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 To celebrate with current students and past alumni returning for the Homecoming weekend, the construction management program in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 James I. Perkins College of Education will host an open house for its new laboratory facility from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at 514 E. Austin St. in Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Tickets are still available to experience a performance by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the newly renovated Turner Auditorium in Griffith Fine Arts Building.

Foster opens the 2023-24 Centennial Season of the Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts鈥 University Series.

Selden鈥檚 鈥業nvasive Species鈥 exhibition to show at UNT


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 鈥淚nvasive Species,鈥 a body of work by Lauren Selden, professor of art  (metals/jewelry/sculpture) at Stephen F. Austin State University, has a solo exhibition from Oct. 11 through 19 at the Cora Stafford Galleries at the University of North Texas, Denton.
 
The body of work was created after Selden attended a residency in Fiskars, Finland, funded by an 糖心vlog传媒 Creative Activity Grant. The series 鈥淚nvasive Species鈥 consists of sculptural works that explore the interplay between geometric forms and nature, according to Selden.
 

糖心vlog传媒 Wind Ensemble to perform 鈥楾he Music of Omar Thomas鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淭he Music of Omar Thomas鈥 for its first concert of the 2023-24 academic year. The program will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Turner Auditorium inside the newly renovated Griffith Fine Arts Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
 

糖心vlog传媒 voice professor Turner to present collaborative recital


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Chris Turner, assistant professor of voice at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be joined by colleagues to present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
 
Turner will perform with Robert Boren, voice professor at Tyler Junior College, and Maggie Hinchliffe, collaborative pianist at 糖心vlog传媒.
 

Kenari Quartet to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Kenari Quartet will present a recital that members state will range in repertoire from 鈥渉eartfelt to adventurous鈥 when the saxophone ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.
 
The Kenari Quartet includes soprano saxophonist Dr. Bob Eason; alto saxophonist Kyle Baldwin; tenor saxophonist Corey Dundee; and baritone saxophonist Steven Banks.
 

Hicks鈥 鈥楴otes for String Theory鈥 series to show in Fort Worth


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A solo exhibition of works by Candace Hicks, associate professor of art in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open the first week in October in the Transystem Gallery at Arts Fort Worth.

Hicks鈥 exhibition features work from her series 鈥淣otes for String Theory.鈥
