糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 four-day Centennial Celebration kicks off Friday


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 four-day Centennial Celebration weekend will be filled with exciting events running Friday, Sept. 15, through Monday, Sept. 18.

Kicking off the celebration is the 糖心vlog传媒 Alumni Awards, opening with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at The Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches. Honorees include two former 糖心vlog传媒 presidents, Dr. William R. Johnson and the late Dr. Baker Pattillo.

Centennial 糖心vlog传媒 yearbooks available for purchase


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A limited number of centennial volumes of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Stone Fort yearbook, celebrating a century of Lumberjack history and tradition, are available this fall for purchase by alumni, supporters and community members while supplies last.

Showings of 鈥榊es, We Deliver鈥 to begin this week at Lamp-Lite Theatre


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 鈥淵es, We Deliver,鈥 a play written by Dr. Kenneth Untiedt, professor in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open Friday, Sept. 15, at the Lamp-Lite Theatre. 

The showings will take place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Sept 15-16 and 22-23. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 and 24. 

糖心vlog传媒 chapter of League of United Latin American Citizens honored at national convention


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 League of United Latin American Citizens was honored with the National Membership Award and the title of the Young Women of the Year for the state of Texas while attending the 2023 LULAC National Convention and Exposition from Aug. 1-5 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  

The LULAC National Convention draws approximately 15,000 participants each year, including leaders in government, business and the Latino community. The nationwide organization was founded to advance opportunities for all Hispanic nationality groups. 

Pianist Tsay to present recital featuring works by Taiwanese composers


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Jonathan Tsay will present a solo piano recital pairing selections from the standard repertoire with pieces written by Taiwanese composers who wrote their works in the early to mid-20th century when he performs at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.
 
Tsay, assistant professor of piano at the University of Memphis, is a collaborative pianist, chamber musician, producer and arts administrator who recently discovered the library of works by Taiwanese composers from this era.

糖心vlog传媒 music faculty to present annual Pi Kappa Lambda scholarship concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Faculty members of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will be the featured performers during the annual Pi Kappa Lambda Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
 
The concert highlights the talents of the diverse School of Music performing faculty, according to Dr. Jamie Weaver, associate professor of music history at 糖心vlog传媒 and president of Pi Kappa Lambda honor society. Proceeds from the concert fund scholarships for deserving 糖心vlog传媒 music majors selected by the society.

Recital features works by women for piano, flute


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Maggie Hinchliffe, staff pianist at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a recital with guest performer Michael Alampi, flute, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church, Nacogdoches.
 
鈥淲orks by Women for Piano and Flute鈥 will feature selections by women composers, including Anna Bon, Augusta Holm猫s, Valerie Coleman, Amanda Harberg and Samantha Fernando. The program was presented on a summer tour in upstate New York and Long Island. Following a Texas tour, the program will be presented in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

糖心vlog传媒 Centennial Concert premieres work set to poems of celebrated poet Baker


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The first public performance in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 newly renovated Turner Auditorium will be a concert that honors the university鈥檚 past and present and features a grandiose work inspired by the poems of  Nacogdoches鈥 own Karle Wilson Baker, one of Texas鈥 most celebrated poets in the first half of the 20th century.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A new Stephen F. Austin State University study abroad course sponsored by the Rusche College of Business is introducing incoming first-year students and non-business majors to business concepts and principles as well as other cultures over the summer.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 To celebrate the university鈥檚 centennial year and as a thank you to the Nacogdoches and Lumberjack communities, the Stephen F. Austin State University Press is hosting a year-long book giveaway starting this month.
