鈥楢lita鈥檚 Curse鈥 exhibition to open at Cole Art Center


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A reception to mark the opening of the exhibition 鈥淎lita鈥檚 Curse鈥 is planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches.  
 
The exhibition is designed to share the new fine press book written by Beverly Wright Morris in collaboration with Charles Jones, professor emeritus in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Art. The show runs through Aug. 22.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Erik Ordaz of Nacogdoches has been selected for inclusion in a biennial exhibition showcasing artists in the mid-South. He is among 35 artists selected for the 2023 Irene Rosenzweig Biennial Juried Exhibition, organized by The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. His selected work is 鈥淣.I.N.J.A.,鈥 ceramic, 16 inches by 16 inches by 16 inches, 2023.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Michara DeLaney-Fields, chief diversity officer at Stephen F. Austin State University, was one of three dozen higher education leaders from across the country chosen to participate in the 2023-24 Executive Leadership Academy.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.

Denyse Cummins, retired extension horticulture agent from the Louisiana State University AgCenter, will present 鈥淎ll About Bulbs.鈥

Cummins, who lives in Shreveport, Louisiana, is a lecturer for the Louisiana Farm to School Program. She also has been a commercial cut flower grower, a botanical illustrator and an indigo dyer.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Graduate students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 School of Social Work have helped prep for and promote the fundraising event 鈥淐hristmas in July for H.O.P.E,鈥 which invites the community to restock and support the food pantry, Nacogdoches H.O.P.E., or Helping Other People Eat.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 University Police Department officers receive dual commission with UT System ahead of system affiliation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Officers of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 police department received a dual commission with The University of Texas System鈥檚 police force during a ceremony Monday on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The University Police Department officers became jointly commissioned as both 糖心vlog传媒 and UT System officers, which will hold until Sept. 1 when 糖心vlog传媒 officially becomes a member of the UT System. At that time, UPD officers will be commissioned only with the system, though their primary role will remain serving the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

糖心vlog传媒 lecturer starts foundation to assist local law enforcement


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A group of citizens aiming to support local law enforcement, including Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 police department, have banded together to create the Nacogdoches Law Enforcement Foundation. 
 
Korey Kahler, lecturer of computer science at 糖心vlog传媒, said the idea to create this nonprofit came after an opportunity to help a family who suffered a loss in 2021.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of 鈥淒eep in the Heart,鈥 a visually stunning celebration of what makes Texas unique. The screening is at 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
