College-bound students and their families are invited to Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 in-person, on-campus Showcase Saturday event June 24, which offers participants a unique opportunity to experience life as a Lumberjack.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Twenty students from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business traveled to Portugal May 15 through 25 to explore businesses and unique sites in the country. They included a company that has made hand-painted tile the same way for 400 years, a small shoemaker who produces shoes by hand with 30 employees, and the largest producer of cork products in the world.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Project Ra铆ces, a grant-funded bilingual outreach and education program administered by faculty members from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 James I. Perkins College of Education, will host two back to school bashes and a Lucha Libre Night, all featuring children鈥檚 author Xavier Garza, on Aug. 12 in both Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� The expansion and renovation of the L.E. Griffith Fine Arts Building on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus is nearing completion, and faculty and staff will spend much of the summer moving into the building and preparing to welcome students on Aug. 28 as the 2023-24 academic year begins.
 

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University has partnered with Panola College to offer the Panola Pathway with 糖心vlog传媒, which will allow students to expand on their associate degree to eventually earn a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from 糖心vlog传媒. 

The program, slated to begin its inaugural courses this summer, is pending approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. 

NACOGDOCHES Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the annual Wild About Woodies event at 9 a.m. June 30 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.
 

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of 鈥淲hat We Leave Behind,鈥� a documentary by Iliana Sosa that examines her relationship with her grandfather and his homeland. The screening is at 7 p.m. Friday, June 2, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Nominations are being accepted for the Stephen F. Austin State University Stone Fort Museum鈥檚 biennial Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award, which honors those dedicated to preserving Nacogdoches and its history.
 
The award recognizes an individual or group who has made significant contributions to the preservation of East Texas history and Nacogdoches鈥� heritage.
