Friday Night Film Series to screen student films


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will show a selection of short films by current 糖心vlog传媒 students as a feature of the Friday Night Film Series starting at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
 

糖心vlog传媒 regents approve faculty, staff appointments


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 During its three-day quarterly meeting, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents recognized student, faculty and staff achievements, as well as approved faculty and staff appointments.

Special recognitions
The board recognized the final four of this year鈥檚 eight President鈥檚 Achievement Award recipients: James 鈥淓ddie鈥 Colwell, Physical Plant transportation; Chris Cotton, university archives; Kay Johnson, Procurement and Business Services; and Francisco Paco Morales, School of Music.  

糖心vlog传媒 regents make plans for anticipated transfer to UT System


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 During its three-day quarterly meeting, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents made plans for the anticipated passage of the bill making 糖心vlog传媒 a member of The University of Texas System.

As the regents met, Senate Bill 1055 was undergoing its second reading on the House floor of the 88th Texas Legislature in Austin. When it completes its third reading, the bill will be forwarded to Gov. Greg Abbott for signature. 

糖心vlog传媒 art graduate Fleniken to speak at Portfolio Night


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥揝tephen F. Austin State University art alumna Emily Fleniken will be the guest speaker at the School of Art鈥檚 Graphic Design Portfolio Night from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in Room B121 and the front art gallery of the Art Building off Wilson Drive on campus.
 
Fleniken, a 2013 糖心vlog传媒 graduate, is co-owner and creative director of Lemon Seed Marketing, an agency specializing in strategy and branding for the home services industry.
 

糖心vlog传媒 combined choirs, orchestra to perform Mozart鈥檚 Great Mass in C minor


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The combined choirs and orchestra of Stephen F. Austin State University will present W.A. Mozart鈥檚 Great Mass in C minor when the student ensembles perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at First Baptist Church, Nacogdoches.
 
Performing are the 糖心vlog传媒 A Cappella Choir, directed by Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒, and Kantorei and Singin鈥 Axes, directed by Dr. Tod Fish, associate director of choral activities, along with a student orchestra.
 

糖心vlog传媒 faculty, staff recognized for years of service


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University recognized faculty and staff for their years of service to the university during two installments of the 2023 Faculty and Staff Service Award ceremonies April 19 and 20, respectively.

McGowan to present fingerstyle jazz guitar concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 鈥淎n Evening of Fingerstyle Jazz Guitar with Sean McGowan鈥 takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen  F. Austin State University.
 
McGowan will perform a selection of original compositions and classic jazz standards from his critically acclaimed solo guitar recordings. Songs by great American composers Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Alan Jay Lerner and  Frederick Loewe and many others will be featured.
 

糖心vlog传媒 Electric Guitar Ensemble to present 鈥楤aroque and Blue鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Electric Guitar Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the concert 鈥淏aroque and Blue鈥 at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Music Recital Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
 
Directed by Larry Greer, adjunct faculty guitar instructor, the student ensemble will perform works by Johann Pachelbel, Johan Roman, Duke Ellington, Kenny Dorham, Antonio Carlos Jobim and others. The concert will be live streamed.
 

Four students named Best of 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University Division of Student Affairs announced Michalla Byrd of Joaquin, Heath Sharr of Jacksonville, Jay Teamer of Lewisville, and Curtis Tran of Nacogdoches as recipients of this year鈥檚 Best of 糖心vlog传媒 Awards.

鈥淭he committee was overwhelmed with the amazing pool of candidates for the awards this year, yet it was clear these students exemplify the 糖心vlog传媒 spirit and genuine passion for the institution,鈥 said Lacey Folsom, director of Student Engagement. 鈥淲e were honored to celebrate these individuals and their achievements.鈥

糖心vlog传媒 to host Deep East Texas Travel and Tourism Conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Business owners, travel and tourism professionals, and local economic development leaders are invited to attend the Deep East Texas Travel and Tourism Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

A collaboration between faculty members at 糖心vlog传媒 and Tarleton State University, this conference is the first in a series of education and engagement sessions that are part of the larger Texas Forest Country Travel and Tourism Collective.
