NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform its final concert of the 2022-23 school year in presenting the program 鈥淩hapsody in Blue鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Seven Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members recently were selected to receive Teaching Excellence Awards.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Teaching Excellence program is an opportunity to recognize outstanding faculty members for their contributions to the university through excellence as teachers. Each of the university鈥檚 six colleges selects a member of its faculty to receive an award. One 糖心vlog传媒 Faculty Senate member from among all colleges also is chosen.

糖心vlog传媒 presentation of 鈥楥armen鈥 runs through Saturday


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University will present Georges Bizet鈥檚 opera 鈥淐armen鈥 nightly through Saturday, April 1, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. Veronica Stovich, senior voice student from Texas City, performs the role of Micaela. 鈥淐armen鈥 is the story of an entrancing and free-spirited girl and the inexorable impact of fate. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students and youth.

糖心vlog传媒 theatre students make history at KCACTF


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Theatre majors from Stephen F. Austin State University made history recently as the first 糖心vlog传媒 student representatives to be selected to attend and perform at the national level of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The students took top honors at the Region 6 KCACTF event in Abilene.
 
鈥淚 am overjoyed,鈥 said Cleo House Jr., director of the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Theatre and Dance. 鈥淭hese students are proof that when you put in the work and have commitment to the craft, that the sky is the limit.鈥
 

糖心vlog传媒 students to host Plants and Pancakes at the Plantery


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 horticulture program and the Horticulture Club will host Plants and Pancakes from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 1, at the Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Dr.

Plants available for purchase include a variety of edibles, annuals, houseplants and succulents. Pancakes will be free, but a donation is encouraged.

Cross-disciplinary effort by 糖心vlog传媒 faculty and staff leads to creation of Parkinson鈥檚 disease support group


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Faculty and staff from several Stephen F. Austin State University programs worked together to create the Nacogdoches Parkinson鈥檚 Support Group, which will meet once a month at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 1430 Mound St.
 
The first meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 13, with the group set to meet on the second Thursday of the month moving forward. Those diagnosed with Parkinson鈥檚 disease as well as their loved ones are invited to the meetings.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. April 13 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.

Dawn Stover, a study leader at the East Texas Plant Materials Center within the U.S. Department of Agriculture鈥檚 Natural Resources Conservation Service, will present "Finding the Ephemeral: Chasing Elusive Botanical Treasures of East Texas.鈥

SpringFest to offer ticket giveaways, provide accessibility measures


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University will hold a ticket giveaway for its upcoming SpringFest concert, which will be hosted by the Student Activities Association and will feature Jamaican-American hip-hop artist Sean Kingston.

The SAA is also taking steps to make the event accessible to all attendees, including having sign language interpreters onsite throughout the performance.
