NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host its annual Garden Gala Day Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 and 2 at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 鈥淯nderstanding Coincidence in the Multiverse,鈥 a solo exhibition by Stephen F. Austin State University art faculty member Candace Hicks, will show Jan. 21 through Feb. 25 at Ivester Contemporary in Austin.
 

Guest artist Yoo to perform with 糖心vlog传媒 piano faculty


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Guest artist Dr. Kyung-A Yoo, associate professor of collaborative piano at Mercer University, will join piano faculty members at Stephen F. Austin State University to present 鈥淓ight-Hands Piano Concert鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Advocate for humane education headlines 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 second Montgomery Professorship event


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 In her first appearance before a Stephen F. Austin State University audience, Zoe Weil, co-founder and president of the Institute for Humane Education, will present 鈥淭he World Becomes What We Teach: A Solutionary Approach to Humane Education.鈥

糖心vlog传媒 calls for entries in Texas National


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art鈥檚 call for entries in the 2023 Texas National Competition and Exhibition will remain open through a Jan. 31 deadline.

Texas National features an assortment of art from various media, according to Erik Ordaz, exhibition coordinator for Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House where the exhibition will show from April 14 through June 30. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third best in show at the juror鈥檚 discretion.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Dr. George Avery to present research at the East Texas Archeological Society meeting


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Dr. George Avery, staff archeologist and cultural heritage coordinator, will present 鈥淎rcheology of Two Freedom Colonies in Deep East Texas鈥 during the East Texas Archeological Society meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Ferguson Building, Room G78, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. 

Meetings are open to the public. The society has met five times a year 鈥 primarily on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus 鈥 since 2009. 

糖心vlog传媒 music composition alumnus named Princeton Hodder Fellow


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Joseph C. Phillips Jr., a music composition graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, has been named one of Princeton University鈥檚 Mary Mackall Gwinn Hodder Fellows for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Princeton鈥檚 Lewis Center for the Arts recently announced the five newest recipients, which includes artist Kayla E., choreographer Moriah Evans, theater artist Modesto 鈥楩lako鈥 Jimenez, conceptual artist Charisse Pearlina Weston and composer Phillips, who studied with composition professor Dr. Stephen Lias while attending 糖心vlog传媒.

Closing reception set for 鈥楯ennings Tofel: Drawing Genesis鈥 exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A reception to mark the closing of the exhibition 鈥淛ennings Tofel: Drawing Genesis鈥 is planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
