NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s East Texas Research Center recently received a $3,000 donation from The Sons of the Republic of Texas as part of the group’s efforts to commemorate the role played by the Department of Nacogdoches in the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas — an area that encompassed all of Texas east of the Trinity River — in the Texas Revolution.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– The American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a nonprofit foundation supporting educational and scientific activities in the field of geology, has named Dr. Julie Bloxson, associate professor of earth sciences and geologic resources at Stephen F. Austin State University, as its 2025 Inspirational Geoscience Educator.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Two students in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Nelson Rusche College of Business earned top honors at the collegiate Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference, which hosted an estimated 1,100 FBLA members last month in Dallas.

Jessica Frasier, president of ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½â€™s FBLA chapter and general business senior from Bay City, earned fifth place in the Finance Case Competition, and Julian Ieva, treasurer of ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½â€™s FBLA chapter and accounting senior from Houston, earned first place in the Foundations of Finance Competition.

Nacogdoches native turned French chef to teach cooking workshops at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– In Nacogdoches, locals and visitors can find award-winning barbecue, unforgettable tacos and chicken-fried steak the size of your head. However, for a limited time, Stephen F. Austin State University will offer the opportunity to cook and enjoy French cuisine, as well.  

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ earns Carnegie recognition for access and research


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– The Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education designated Stephen F. Austin State University as a Higher Access, Medium Earnings institution due to its work to advance opportunity in a rural service area. Because of ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½, East Texas students benefit from greater access to a college education and above-average wages upon completion of their degrees, according to the designation.
