NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Art education students at Stephen F. Austin State University are continuing to explore new and innovative ways to teach art to members of the Boys and Girls Club of Deep East Texas.

In another collaborative effort, the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Art, the Boys and Girls Club and the Community Arts Center of East Texas helped students create a colorful mural completely online.

糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra to perform works by Tchaikovsky, Milhaud


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 virtual performance on Wednesday, Nov. 18, will feature music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Darius Milhaud.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. and accessible through live streaming free of charge at , the concert鈥檚 main feature is Tchaikovsky鈥檚 鈥淪erenade for Strings,鈥 according to Dr. Gregory Grabowski, the orchestra鈥檚 conductor.

鈥淭he Tchaikovsky (piece) is one of the biggest standards of string repertoire,鈥 Grabowski said.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Kantorei choirs to present virtual concert of sacred music


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Kantorei choirs at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a virtual concert titled 鈥淪anctity鈥 that will feature sacred music written for treble chorus at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

The concert program will include 鈥淢esse Basse鈥 by Gabriel Faur茅; 鈥淕loria鈥 from Mass no. 6 by Gy枚rgy Orb脿n; and 鈥淧salm 23鈥 by the late, great Canadian composer Srul Irving Glick. Dr. Tod Fish, associate director of choral activities in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, directs the choirs.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Singin鈥 Axes present virtual concert featuring works by Brahms, Britten


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Singin鈥 Axes at Stephen F. Austin State University will showcase the work of Johannes Brahms when the student ensemble presents the virtual concert 鈥淩hapsody鈥 at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

Directed by Dr. Tod Fish, associate director of choral activities in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, the Singin鈥 Axes will perform Brahms鈥 Opus 53, also known as 鈥淎lto Rhapsody.鈥 Featured performer will be School of Music faculty member Nita Hudson as mezzo-soprano soloist.

Also on the program is Benjamin Britten鈥檚 鈥淭he Ballad of Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard.鈥

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. John Hendricks, professor and department chair of the Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Mass Communication, recently edited and contributed to the book 鈥淩adio鈥檚 Second Century: Past, Present, and Future Perspectives,鈥 published by Rutgers University Press.

As the broadcasting industry approaches its 100th anniversary, this book is the first to study how the industry has evolved and adapted to remain a dominant mass medium.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs will host its Brave Space Series at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Multimedia Room. The discussion will focus on consent.
 
鈥淭he Office of Multicultural Affairs鈥 open dialogue series invites participants to discuss society鈥檚 meaning of consent versus its actual definition,鈥 said La-Meria Seriale, OMA student ambassador. 鈥淚n this discussion, we will learn how to properly ask for consent and how to apply it in today's society.鈥
