糖心vlog传媒 mass communication students study abroad in England, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students traveled to England, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands for a behind-the-scenes look at international media.

Students enrolled in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Department of Mass Communication鈥檚 Meet the Media course toured media organizations while abroad, including TV stations, public relations and advertising agencies, and magazine headquarters.

Dr. John Hendricks, chair of the Department of Mass Communication, expressed the benefits this experience afforded students.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥  鈥淭he Tempest鈥 rehearsals started a few weeks ago with Stephen F. Austin State University theatre students doing all the traditional elements of theatrical rehearsal, like script analysis and blocking, while also discovering the opportunities and limitations of creating and presenting a play totally online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Members of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Phi Beta Lambda chapter in the Rusche College of Business recently placed among the top 10 in various competitions at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California.

Nacogdoches Photographic Association to open annual summer show


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Nacogdoches Photographic Association will open its 2017 gallery show with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, July 21, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Theme for the photo show is 鈥淣acogdoches,鈥 and juror is professional photographer and former Nacogdoches resident Steve Kozak.

Awards will include Best of Show, first, second and third places and honorable mention. The 2017 Best of Show recipient will be announced at the opening reception.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Music Preparatory Division offers scholarships


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music is accepting scholarship applications for its fall classes.

The music program features the study of a variety of musical instruments and choral techniques. Upper-level musicians as well as 糖心vlog传媒 faculty and students teach classes.

Watercolor East Texas show opens Saturday


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The 33rd Watercolor East Texas juried exhibition will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

This year鈥檚 juror is Texas artist Michael Holter, who is a signature member of National Watercolor Society, Outdoor Painters Society and Southwestern Watercolor Society. He works in both watercolor and oil. His work has received numerous awards and can be found in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad.

Preview performance of festival play to be presented Tuesday


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 An opportunity to preview a performance of the play Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre students plan to tour next month at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland, takes place Tuesday night, July 25.

鈥淐losed For Repairs,鈥 written by former 糖心vlog传媒 student Bobby Britton of Angleton, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall in the Wright Music Building on campus. Admission is $10 at the door, and proceeds will benefit study abroad opportunities for theatre students.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture provides agroforestry outreach in Haiti


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Torn blue tarps serving as the makeshift roof of a cinderblock church gently flapped in the wind as representatives from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture asked questions of a predominantly male group of subsistence farmers through an interpreter. Those in attendance are residents of Merger, Haiti, a small village located outside of the country鈥檚 capital of Port-au-Prince, who struggle to produce food in the dry, rocky and erosion-prone soil surrounding the community.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The College of Fine Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University will present five national touring acts in the 2017-18 University Series, building on its tradition of bringing leading professional artists to East Texas.
