NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University graduate students studying in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science recently presented research at the annual American College of Sports Medicine conference in Denver, Colorado.

During the conference, students attended presentations on various topics such as exercise physiology, medicine, research studies, professional application and therapeutic settings.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University once again has a full house for its annual Educators鈥 Summer Art Studio, slated this year for June 23 through 25, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Twenty-five art teachers from East Texas high schools, middle schools, elementary schools and community colleges have registered for 鈥#Create&Connect2017,鈥 in which they will learn new techniques and work collaboratively to produce a traveling art exhibition, according to Dr. Bill Nieberding, assistant professor of art and the workshop鈥檚 director.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business offers students the opportunity to study abroad in France and Austria through partnerships with two business schools.

Since 2013, 糖心vlog传媒 business students have had the opportunity to study at either Groupe Sup De Co La Rochelle in France or MCI Management Center Innsbruck in Austria, which are both business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

糖心vlog传媒 theatre students take on dual roles, duties for SummerStage Festival


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Learning one鈥檚 lines for a play can be hard enough for any actor, but when you鈥檙e a student actor at Stephen F. Austin State University and involved in the SummerStage Festival, you will often find yourself learning lines for two different characters in two different plays 鈥 all at the same time.

Ed and Gwen Cole STEM Building on schedule to be completed by fall 2018


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Structural steel beams are being placed and foundational concrete poured as construction of the Ed and Gwen Cole STEM Building remains on schedule to be completed by fall 2018 on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

鈥淭he project began with the demolition of Todd and Gibbs Halls. The site then had selective tree clearing and grading to prepare for foundation construction,鈥 said Ron Watson, associate director of 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 physical plant department. 鈥淔irst-floor concrete placement and the related under-slab plumbing and electrical rough-in continue.鈥

糖心vlog传媒 to screen Academy Award-winning 鈥淚nside Out鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of the Academy Award-winning Disney Pixar film 鈥淚nside Out鈥 at 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Directed by Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, 鈥淚nside Out鈥 is an inventive animated film that takes the audience on a journey to discover the 鈥渆motional roller coaster ride inside your head,鈥 according to information at movies.disney.com.

Registration underway for Junior Jacks theatre day camp


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Registration is continuing for Junior Jacks Theatre Camp at Stephen F. Austin State University. The popular two-week School of Theatre camp is designed for children entering third through ninth grades. This year鈥檚 camp is scheduled for Monday, July. 31, through Saturday, Aug. 12. Registration deadline is July 28.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Enrollment for children ages 6 through 9 is still available in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 STEM Research and Learning Center鈥檚 Lil鈥 STEM Jacks, which runs July 25 and 26 on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Lil鈥 STEM Jacks captures children鈥檚 attention in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by providing opportunities to learn and play in hands-on activities related to STEM disciplines.

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens鈥 Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series to feature horticulturist Greg Grant


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Greg Grant will present 鈥淎 Bright Spot in the Heart of Texas: The Idea Garden.鈥

Grant is horticulturist for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Smith County. He also is an award-winning writer, conservationist and seventh-generation Texan from Arcadia, Texas.

Annual 12x12 event raises funds for 糖心vlog传媒 art scholarships


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Silent bidding in this year鈥檚 12x12 scholarship fundraiser for the Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University is underway at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The silent auction features 12-by-12-inch pieces of art created by approximately 70 artists from Nacogdoches, Lufkin and other areas of East Texas. Anyone may silently bid on the unique one-of-a-kind pieces, according to Crystal Hicks, event committee chairwoman.
