Madrid taking 糖心vlog传媒 Music Prep program in new direction
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A new director of the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music is taking the music outreach program in a new and exciting direction.
Alba Madrid, an adjunct faculty member in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, began training recently as the new director and took over as head of the program on June 1.
鈥淚 am excited to embark on a new journey in my professional career as the director of an institution that has the potential to grow and become an integral part of the community,鈥 Madrid said.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Rebecca Turk, education and events manager for Moore Farms Botanical Gardens in Lake City, South Carolina, will present 鈥淢oore Farms Botanical Garden: A Germinating Success from Concept and Collections to Programs.鈥
糖心vlog传媒 hosts 14 exchange students
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of International Programs is hosting 14 exchange students from six different locations this semester.
鈥淭his has been one of the most diverse groups of foreign exchange students the university has hosted,鈥 Heather Catton, 糖心vlog传媒 director of international programs, said.
The group comprises two students from Pakistan, two from Tunisia, five from France, three from the United Kingdom, one from Taiwan and one from Malta. Eleven of the students are undergraduates while three are graduate students.
Cellist Ru啪evic to perform at 糖心vlog传媒
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Renowned cellist Nikola Nino Ru啪evic will present a guest recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
Ru啪evic, who is associate professor of cello and chamber music and the coordinator of chamber music studies at the University of North Texas, will perform with his wife, pianist Lara Ru啪evic.
糖心vlog传媒 colts place at world championship
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University equine program successfully exhibited two weanling colts from the university鈥檚 breeding program at the 2017 American Paint Horse Association World Championship Show held in Fort Worth.
Make Me Move, a solid paint-bred colt, was named Reserve Breeder鈥檚 Trust Futurity Champion and placed sixth in the solid paint-bred Weanling Stallions Class, while Remember the Name, also a solid paint-bred colt, placed fifth in the same class.

糖心vlog传媒 students intern with NFL and Women鈥檚 NBA
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Being on the sidelines never looked so good.
During the summer, three graduate students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 athletic training program interned as athletic trainers with the NFL and Women鈥檚 NBA.
Cody Oliver, Lufkin native, spent seven weeks working with the Houston Texans, and Chris Elliott of Nashville, Tennessee, served the Tennessee Titans. Sara Caitlin Godwin from Auburn, Alabama, interned with the New York Liberty Women鈥檚 NBA team.
糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Jacks Council on Family Relations accepting donations for Thanksgiving Homebound project
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Members of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Jacks Council on Family Relations are gearing up for their annual food drive, Thanksgiving Homebound.
Since 2011, JCFR has participated in this project to help area families during the holidays. Each year, the number of families they serve increases. Last year, members delivered food to more than 100 families. Jaycie Case, JCFR president, said their goal this year is to feed 200 families.
Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to perform Daugherty鈥檚 award-winning music
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform a concert featuring the music of Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Daugherty at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
Certain selections on the program are dedicated in memory of Caleb Gibbs, 糖心vlog传媒 freshman music major who died earlier this semester.
