糖心vlog传媒 students conduct service-learning project on Lake Naconiche


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Students enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 natural resources section of 糖心vlog传媒 101 removed more than 100 pounds of the invasive species giant salvinia from Lake Naconiche this month.

Dr. Matthew McBroom, associate dean of the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at 糖心vlog传媒, said students used canoes to navigate the remote coves along the Telesco Creek arm of the reservoir where the invasive species infestation is most concentrated.

Danceworks: In Retrospect production to feature 11 糖心vlog传媒 senior choreographic pieces


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 dance program will showcase senior choreographic works during its production of Danceworks: In Retrospect, which premieres at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the HPE Complex Dance Studio, Room 201, on the university鈥檚 campus.

Additional showings are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 10 and 3 p.m. Nov. 11. Tickets cost $5 for students, $8 for faculty and staff members, and $10 for general admission and can be purchased at the door.

The production will feature 11 senior choreographic works focused on the theme 鈥淚n Retrospect.鈥

College of Business alumnus speaks to 糖心vlog传媒 students about career success


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Kirk Phillips, president and CEO of Wintrust Commercial Bank and Stephen F. Austin State University alumnus, recently spoke to students in the Rusche College of Business about the keys to a successful career.

During his 鈥淪o you want to be a CEO?鈥 discussion, Phillips recalled the various jobs he held before achieving his current position. Phillips has spent more than 25 years in the commercial finance industry beginning with ITT Commercial Finance. He has experience with credit analysis, underwriting, sales and marketing.

糖心vlog传媒 Board of Regents approves new degree programs


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Board of Regents approved several new face-to-face and online degree programs during its quarterly meeting Monday.

As part of the 糖心vlog传媒 Envisioned Strategic Plan, the university seeks to engage students in experiences that prepare them for the challenges of living in a global community, and 糖心vlog传媒 administrators are working to develop relevant new programs through a variety of delivery methods and at various locations.

糖心vlog传媒 regents approve faculty and staff changes


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Several new leaders were approved for Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business during Monday鈥檚 meeting of the Board of Regents.

Robert Crocker, professor and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, will serve as associate dean of the business college. Matthew Lindsey, associate professor, was approved as chair of the Department of Management and Marketing. Kelly Noe, associate professor of accounting, was appointed chair of the Schlief School of Accountancy.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Friday Film Series to screen award-winning 鈥楧amNation鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of 鈥淒amNation鈥 at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Directed by Travis Rummel and Ben Knight, 鈥淒amNation鈥 is a 2014 advocacy documentary about the changing attitudes in the U.S. concerning the nation鈥檚 large system of dams.

Exhibition to highlight Houston area clay ceramics artists


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the 糖心vlog传媒 Galleries will host the exhibition 鈥淐ollective Transference: Houston Area Clay鈥 Oct. 31 through Dec. 30 in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The ceramics exhibition, curated by Jeff Forster and Michelle Matthews, features clay artists who highlight the quality and diversity of artists working in Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Liberty, Galveston, Chambers, Waller and Brazoria counties.

D铆a de los Muertos Fiesta changes downtown location


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Because of its growth in attendance and popularity, the annual D铆a de los Muertos Fiesta, or Day of the Dead festival, is moving to a different downtown location this year to accommodate larger crowds.

The 5th annual celebration is slated for 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, behind the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Nacogdcohes Public Library and the Nacogdoches CVB have joined the School of Art and College of Fine Arts in sponsoring and coordinating the event.

糖心vlog传媒 College of Fine Arts Dean鈥檚 Circle hosts successful fundraiser


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Members of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts Dean鈥檚 Circle recently recognized its 2017 award recipients at the annual 鈥淔all Festival of 糖心vlog传媒 Artists鈥 and Winners鈥 Circle reception held in The Old Tobacco Warehouse in downtown Nacogdoches.

A highlight of the evening included special recognition and the reading of a city proclamation honoring former Nacogdoches Mayor Dr. Roger Van Horn and his contributions to the City of Nacogdoches, 糖心vlog传媒, the College of Fine Arts and the Dean鈥檚 Circle. Mayor Shelley Brophy made the presentation.

糖心vlog传媒 participates in national Read for the Record Day


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Judy Abbott, dean of Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 James I. Perkins College of Education, read the book 鈥淨uakers鈥 by Liz Wong to a group of first grade students at the 糖心vlog传媒 Charter School during the annual Read for the Record Day on Oct. 19.
