Texas State University Trio to perform works by Brahms, Ligeti


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Texas State University Trio will present music for horn, violin and piano when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, in Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

The trio includes Texas State University School of Music faculty members Dr. Lynn Ledbetter, violin; Dr. William McNally, piano; and Dr. Caroline Steiger, horn. Their program will feature Trio for Horn, Violin and Piano by Gy枚rgy Ligeti and Horn Trio, Op. 40 by Johannes Brahms, among other selections.

鈥楳r. Burns鈥 takes funny, poignant look at post-apocalyptic world


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Playwright Anne Washburn鈥檚 鈥淢r. Burns, a post-electric play鈥 has something for everyone, and the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will bring the imaginative dark comedy to life as part of its 2017-18 Mainstage Series.

Described by The New York Times as 鈥渄ownright brilliant,鈥 鈥淢r. Burns鈥 is a show that embodies what its director, Slade Billew, loves most about the theatre.

TCU鈥檚 Trio Con Brio to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Trio Con Brio, an ensemble of musicians from the Texas Christian University music faculty, will perform a guest recital at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

糖心vlog传媒 interior design faculty members awarded Best Presentation at conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Professors in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 interior design program were recognized with the Best Presentation Award at the Southwest Regional Conference for Interior Design Educators Council in early October in Dallas.

IDEC is a professionally recognized association for interior design educators in North America. The organization works to advance interior design education, scholarship and service, according to the IDEC website.

糖心vlog传媒 art history alumnus pursues Harvard graduate degree


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University art history graduate Kendrick Perkins is working toward earning a master鈥檚 degree through the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Perkins is an Urban Scholar Fellow enrolled in the school鈥檚 Technology, Innovation and Education master鈥檚 program where his studies focus on learning design, entrepreneurship and emerging technology in K-12 urban education.

Aztec dance group to perform at 糖心vlog传媒 for Native American Heritage Month


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 November is Native American Heritage Month, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University will celebrate by hosting Mitotiliztli Yaoyollohtli, an Aztec dance group that will perform an interactive presentation offering tribal dancing, drumming and a brief look at the Mexica-Nahuati philosophy.

The celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Baker Pattillo Student Center Plaza located on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Ticket sales continue for Moscow Ballet鈥檚 鈥楪reat Russian Nutcracker鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A limited number of tickets are still available to attend the Nov. 16 and 17 performances of Moscow Ballet鈥檚 鈥淕reat Russian Nutcracker鈥 at Stephen F. Austin State University.

An Encore Event presented by the 糖心vlog传媒 College of Fine Arts, 鈥淭he Great Russian Nutcracker鈥 will be presented at 7:30 each night in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

All ages will want to celebrate Christmas with the Moscow Ballet鈥檚 company of nearly 40 ballerinas and other dancers on its 25th Anniversary Tour of North America.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present the final guest artist recital for the 2017 糖心vlog传媒 Octubafest when Stephen Kunzer performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in Cole Concert Hall.

糖心vlog传媒 to host Showcase Saturday for prospective students


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Future college students will have the opportunity to experience a taste of campus life during a free, action-packed open-house Saturday, Nov. 11, at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

Prospective students will have the opportunity to visit with university faculty and staff members, tour the campus and residence halls, and preview academic programs during the 糖心vlog传媒 Showcase Saturday event.
