NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Future college students will have the opportunity to experience a taste of campus life during two free, action-packed open-house Saturdays at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches on Feb. 25 and March 31.

The Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Student Affairs present a $1000 check to the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha for a donation to Susan B. Komen for the Cure at Philantropy Night 2012 on Jan. 28 at the Ladyjack Basketball game.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ presents student-directed 'Bright Ideas'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of Eric Coble's "Bright Ideas" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. All performances will be in the Downstage Theatre located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ music education professor to deliver free lecture


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Mark E. Turner, associate professor of elementary music education for Stephen F. Austin State University, will deliver a lecture, "Spoken Language and Its Influence on Musical Compositions: A Review of Research," from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in the Music Recital Hall (Room 160) of the Wright Music Building.

The lecture, which is the fourth of the monthly Robert G. Sidnell Lecture Series in Music Education, will feature research about the connection between language and music, explained Turner.

Parrs to present duo piano recital at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


Pianists Dr. Andrew, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ professor of music, and Linda Parr, member of the Music Preparatory faculty, will present a duo piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Nacogdoches Naturally to host day at the park


Nacogdoches Naturally will host a day of outdoor exploration at Mission Tejas State Park on Saturday, Feb. 11, where participants can spend the day hiking part of the original El Camino Real trail and touring the replica of a Spanish mission and a restored log home.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Stephen F. Austin State University's Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St. The group will return to Nacogdoches at approximately 4 p.m.

Stone Fort Museum exhibit offers ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ photography students professional experience


ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ advanced photography students produced panoramic photos of the "Cornerstones of the Community: African American History in Eastern Texas," exhibit at the Stone Fort Museum. The images will allow visitors with disabilities to view photos of the second-floor exhibits downstairs.

Stone Fort Museum to host book signing


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A book signing with Rolonda D. Teal, author of "Natchitoches Parish," will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Stone Fort Museum on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

"Natchitoches Parish" honors African Americans and shares previously untold stories of the lives and memories of many in that part of Louisiana, said Carolyn Spears, museum director. Guests are invited to attend and hear Teal describe the development of her book and the process of collecting community history.

Vienna Boys Choir concert sold out


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As predicted by the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts, tonight's concert of the Vienna Boys Choir has sold out. Over 1,000 area residents will be coming to W.M. Turner Auditorium to hear the internationally acclaimed choir perform as part of the 2011-2012 University Series.

61st U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker, III, to speak at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


The Honorable James A. Baker, III, America's 61st secretary of state, will be the featured guest speaker at the 2012 Archie McDonald Speaker Series at Stephen F. Austin State University scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.
