Community invited to attend sexual assault symposium, be part of documentary


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - His mother, ex-wife and daughter are all victims of separate sexual assaults, and now Stephen F. Austin State University cinematography graduate student Thomas Church is using his craft to create a documentary he hopes eventually will be able to help victims of such crimes.

The full-length documentary, "Talk About It," which is Church's Master of Fine Arts' thesis project, is scheduled for completion and distribution in November.

Dresses for Dreams benefits local nonprofit


Omicron Delta Kappa, Stephen F. Austin State University's leadership honor society, is requesting donations of new and gently used dresses, from casual to formal, for its annual Dresses for Dreams event.

Each year, ODK accepts donations from ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ and the surrounding community. The dresses, shoes and accessories are then sold to the public for less than $40 each. This year, all proceeds benefit Solid Foundation, a local organization providing academic assistance, mentoring and other services to under-privileged youth.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ choirs to present "With Heart and Voice" concert


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Choral Union and Women's Choir of Stephen F. Austin State University will present a joint concert, "With Heart and Voice," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in Cole Concert Hall on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

"The program features folksongs, tales, love songs, prayers and spirituals, all of which relate the human experience," said Dr. David Howard, director of both ensembles.

The Choral Union, a 70-voice mixed chorus, will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, and an arrangement by Mack Wilberg of three Scottish folksongs.
