Cello Club to perform works by Elgar, Williams, Richter


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Cello Club will present 鈥淎biding Melodies 鈥 Harry Potter Listening to Elgar鈥 when the collaborative group of cellists from throughout East Texas performs at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

An endeavor begun in 2014 by Dr. Evgeni Raychev, cello instructor in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music, Cello Club has brought together up to 40 cellists at a time to collaborate on various themed concerts.

Houston Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 Kesselman, Mo to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Robin Kesselman, principal bass with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and colleague Boson Mo, violin, Houston Symphony Orchestra, will collaborate to present a recital at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160, in Wright Music Building on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

糖心vlog传媒 announces 2021 Homecoming Children of the Court


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Mylee Elsik, of Deer Park, and Owen Hawkins, of Nacogdoches, will serve as children of the court during Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Homecoming celebrations Oct. 29 and 30.

Mylee is the 8-year-old daughter of Lorna Wheeler and Frank Elsik. She is the granddaughter of Robert Wheeler, a 1979 糖心vlog传媒 alumnus. 

Mylee is in the third grade at San Jacinto Elementary School and enjoys participating in soccer, ballet, acrobatics and the children鈥檚 choir at Deer Park First Baptist Church. She also is a big fan of the Lumberjacks.

Calling to teach becomes career focus for 糖心vlog传媒 student


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 It was inevitable that Jos茅 Rodrigo Uresti would become a teacher. As a child, he sat at a little desk he received for Christmas, where he pretended to teach his younger sister and cousin about the intricacies of math and history, and later graded the papers he assigned.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre, in collaboration with Panola College Theatre, will present Ellen McLaughlin鈥 play 鈥淎jax in Iraq鈥 Nov. 9 through 13 at the Community House in Center.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a variety of works by noted composers when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Service-learning project delivers ideas to help those in 糖心vlog传媒 community


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Interior design and construction management students in the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Human Sciences participated in the Make a Difference Charrette, a service-learning project, to present ideas and projects that could make a difference to those in the 糖心vlog传媒 community.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 For the first time since February 2020, Stephen F. Austin State University will host an in-person, on-campus Showcase Saturday event on Nov. 13, offering college-bound students and their families a unique opportunity to experience life as a Lumberjack.

糖心vlog传媒 to present student-directed play 鈥極vertones鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥揟he Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed play 鈥淥vertones鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Directed by Emily Edwards, Cedar Hill senior, 鈥淥vertones鈥 is written by Alice Gerstenberg and is a play about how human nature appears on the surface to the world and how it appears as it becomes dramatized psychologically.

糖心vlog传媒 students to host plant fair on campus featuring winter annuals


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 horticulture program will host the annual Fall Plant Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the 糖心vlog传媒 Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Drive.  

Plants available for purchase include a variety of winter annuals, such as pansies, violas, wallflowers, dianthus, stock, dusty miller and snapdragons. All plants are winter hardy and perform well in East Texas. Plants are $2 per pot or $34 for a tray of 18 plants.
