NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 At a time when universities across the nation are concerned about declining enrollment in the face of a worldwide pandemic, the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University is experiencing its highest enrollment in the school鈥檚 history.
Registration continues for Music Prep鈥檚 popular Kindermusik classes
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The popular Kindermusik program is underway in the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music, but interested parents can still enroll their children in the fun and active classes.
Kindermusik is an early childhood music and movement program based on the belief that every child is musical, every parent is the child鈥檚 most important teacher, and the home is the most important place for learning, according to Alba Madrid, director of 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Music Prep.
糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Salas to present 鈥楻eflections鈥 recital
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. J.D. Salas, associate professor of tuba and euphonium at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present the program 鈥淩eflections鈥 in a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
鈥淚 chose the title 鈥楻eflections鈥 because almost every piece on the program is depicting a scene or character,鈥 Salas said. The recital is presented in collaboration with Dr. James Pitts, piano.
糖心vlog传媒 Gardens' lecture series to feature horticulture specialist
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.
Carol Reese, a nationally known speaker and retired horticulture specialist with the University of Tennessee鈥檚 West Tennessee Research and Education Center, will present 鈥淣ative Plants: Facts and Fallacies.鈥
糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 University Police Department receives grant to offer citizens' police academy
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Police Department received a $38,849 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice鈥檚 Office of Community Oriented Policing Services to create a citizens' police academy.
The UPD will utilize the funds to enhance the community policing philosophy and provide the 糖心vlog传媒 campus and surrounding communities with the tools to help make the campus safer for everyone.
糖心vlog传媒 School of Art, Cole Art Center to participate in D铆a de Los Muertos Fiesta
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House will host several events as part of the D铆a de Los Muertos Fiesta from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in downtown Nacogdoches.
D铆a de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a two-day holiday that honors family members and loved ones who have died. The tradition originated in Mexico and is celebrated throughout Latin America. The D铆a de Los Muertos Fiesta has been an annual event in Nacogdoches for almost a decade.
糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra to perform Prokofiev鈥檚 鈥楻omeo and Juliet鈥
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Symphony Orchestra at Stephen F. Austin State University will present Sergei Prokofiev鈥檚 鈥淩omeo and Juliet鈥 when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
Exhibition features photographic collection by 糖心vlog传媒 senior Dupr茅
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University senior Alex Dupr茅 will present a collection titled 鈥淔ruits of Light鈥 as her Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition to be on view Oct. 18 through 21 in the back gallery of the 糖心vlog传媒 Art Building off Wilson Drive on campus.
An exhibition reception is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the back gallery. Admission is free.
The collection illuminates a world only existing through the capture of time, according to Dupr茅.
糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs to host Native American Heritage Month Celebration
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 The Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Multicultural Affairs will host a Native American Heritage Month Celebration beginning at noon, Nov. 10 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Plaza on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Award-winning Kenyan author to serve as guest poet, judge at poetry slam
NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Qui Qarre, an author and award-winning poet from Nairobi, Kenya, will serve as guest poet and judge during 鈥淓speranza鈥檚 Night Out,鈥 beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Stone Fort Museum on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
