糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 speech and language disorders center receives grant to help people with Parkinson鈥檚 disease


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders at Stephen F. Austin State University has received a 2021 Speak Out and Loud Crowd grant from the Parkinson Voice Project, the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the world dedicated to helping individuals with Parkinson鈥檚 disease improve their speech and swallowing.

Crystal Adams comes full circle as ECHL director


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Crystal Adams, who joined the Stephen F. Austin State University Early Childhood Laboratory as director in June, is no stranger to Nacogdoches, the university or the ECHL. 

Adams is a lifelong Nacogdoches resident and received her bachelor鈥檚 degree from 糖心vlog传媒 in interdisciplinary studies in 2010. She earned her master鈥檚 degree in educational administration from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2012 and a master鈥檚 degree in school counseling in 2013.

Brass Day at 糖心vlog传媒 slated for Oct. 17


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University will host its annual Brass Day on Sunday, Oct. 17, on the university campus.

Brass Day is devoted to high school students of all ages who play a brass instrument, including trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba, and who are interested in learning more about how to perform the prescribed audition etudes for all-region and all-state bands, according to Dr. Deb Scott, trombone professor at 糖心vlog传媒 and one of the faculty organizers of Brass Day.

Ordaz new exhibition coordinator for Cole Art Center


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University has announced that Erik Ordaz, Master of Fine Arts graduate and previous adjunct professor at 糖心vlog传媒, is the new exhibition coordinator for The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches and a visiting lecturer in the School of Art.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The A Cappella Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淎lways Keep This Close鈥 when the choral group performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The concert title speaks of connections made and friendships forged when working and singing together in a choir, according to Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒 and the choir鈥檚 conductor.

糖心vlog传媒 Sylvans tie for first place in Arkansas State Lumberjack Competition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 timbersports team, the Sylvans, tied for first place in the collegiate portion of the 37th annual Arkansas State Lumberjack Competition held in Sheridan, Arkansas. 

鈥淭his was one of the tightest competitions we鈥檝e had since our return from the COVID-19 hiatus,鈥 said Dr. Jeremy Stovall, 糖心vlog传媒 professor of silviculture and Sylvans faculty advisor. 

The Stone Fort Museum teams with Nacogdoches Public Library to host free event Oct. 22


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stone Fort Museum on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University will host an evening of poetry, food and traditional crafts during 鈥淓speranza鈥檚 Night Out鈥 beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22. 

The event is being held in collaboration with the Nacogdoches Public Library鈥檚 Big Read grant and is an exploration of Sandra Cisneros鈥 novel, 鈥淎 House on Mango Street,鈥 and the novel鈥檚 heroine and narrator, Esperanza Cordero.
