NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University has closed all 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens trails until further notice as grounds crews work to clean up dozens of downed and hanging limbs as a result of last week鈥檚 snow and ice storms.

Trails at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden, Gayla Mize Garden, Hinds Park and Mast Arboretum are currently closed to the public.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Because of last week鈥檚 winter storm and campus closure, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre has altered this week鈥檚 performance schedule for Jean Genet鈥檚 鈥淭he Maids.鈥

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥揝tephen F. Austin State University School of Art has rescheduled exhibition talks with artists Sarah Fisher and Karen Eisele via Zoom for 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.

The exhibitions 鈥 Fisher and Rachel Anderson鈥檚 鈥淔ound/Loaded鈥 and Eisele鈥檚 鈥淓ncoded鈥 鈥 are showing in The Ed and Gwen Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 historic downtown art gallery. The shows can be viewed in person through March 20.

糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra concert rescheduled


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A concert by the Stephen F. Austin State University Symphony Orchestra, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, is rescheduled for Friday night, Feb. 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Gregory Grabowski, will perform Max Richter鈥檚 鈥淭he Four Seasons Recomposed鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Seating is limited, and audience members must wear facial coverings and socially distance themselves from others not in their immediate group.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A highlight of an upcoming concert of the Symphony Orchestra at Stephen F. Austin State University will be a performance of composer Max Richter鈥檚 鈥淭he Four Seasons Recomposed.鈥

Biology student selected to represent 糖心vlog传媒 at 2021 Texas Undergraduate Research Day


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Kasey Jobe will represent Stephen F. Austin State University at the 2021 Texas Undergraduate Research Day held virtually at the state Capitol Feb. 23 and 24.

Jobe, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in forestry, worked with Dr. Christopher Schalk, assistant professor of forest wildlife management at 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, to investigate how installation methods affect snake entanglement in erosion control blankets.

糖心vlog传媒 School of Theatre to present student-directed 鈥楲ast Chance鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed one-act play 鈥淟ast Chance鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus. The show will also be livestreamed.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 OMA to emphasize perspective, perseverance during annual Black History Month celebration


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Celebrations honoring Black History Month, held annually each February, may be especially poignant this year as Americans continue to process the racial unrest that escalated throughout 2020. Staff members in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs hope to unpack some of those events as they discuss Black history and culture during the annual Black History Month Celebration.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Rick Jones believes that working on plays like Jean Genet鈥檚 鈥淭he Maids鈥 is 鈥渉ow you get better.鈥

鈥淎ny actor or director who isn鈥檛 a little scared of this play isn鈥檛 paying sufficient attention,鈥 the Stephen F. Austin State University professor of theatre said of the final play he will direct before his retirement from 糖心vlog传媒 at the end of the academic year.
