NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs will discuss self-reflection, empowerment, community building and radical empathy during the first Brave Space Series of the spring semester.

Solo El Pueblo Salva Al Pueblo (Only the People Save The People) is a workshop where participants will have the opportunity to discuss how the power of the people can help overturn worldwide systems of oppression, as well as participate in activities that demonstrate the steps individuals can take in their own sphere of influence.

Nacogdoches will become a more pedestrian-friendly community thanks to actions taken by members of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents during their quarterly meeting Tuesday.

Dr. Mark Sanders, associate dean and professor of English, has received awards including the Western Heritage Award and the Poetry Nebraska Book Award. His poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and literary criticism have been published in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Australia.

Stephen F. Austin State University President Scott Gordon has named the individual who will fill the newly created role as the university鈥檚 first chief marketing communications officer.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 dance program will livestream this semester鈥檚 Repertory Dance Company performances, featuring guest artists, three faculty pieces and the theme 鈥淰itality,鈥� at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 through 26 and 3 p.m. Feb. 27.

Williams brings a unique set of qualifications to his role as president at TFA,鈥� said Rob Hughes, TFA executive director. 鈥淗e has 27 years of experience in leading discovery and understanding about trees and silviculture as an educator. This expertise will help guide the TFA and its members during an unprecedented time.鈥�

NACOGODCHES, Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in biochemistry has been accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, one of only seven similarly accredited degree programs in Texas.
 
Accreditation by the ASBMB is a testament that the program is high caliber, relevant and comparable to biochemistry degrees from other universities, said Dr. Odutayo Odunuga, professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
 

When Annemarie Price graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in the spring, she was uncertain of the future. Due to the pandemic, the economy was in steep decline and employers were taking a wait-and-see approach to hiring.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Dr. Ron Petti, collaborative pianist at Stephen F. Austin State University, and members of the School of Music voice faculty will present the program 鈥淪ea Fever,鈥� which features works by composer John Ireland, in a virtual concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb 1.

Each year, Petti collaborates with voice faculty to present a concert that showcases the art songs of different composers, and this year, Ireland is the featured songwriter.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� The Stephen F. Austin State University Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in special education has been listed among the country鈥檚 top 35 best bachelor鈥檚 degree programs in special education by College Rank.
