NACOGODCHES, Texas 鈥� As COVID-19 vaccinations arrive in Nacogdoches, students from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 of Nursing are lining up to help administer the vaccine to community members.

Fourth-semester nursing students from the community health course administered doses of the Moderna vaccine provided by Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy to approximately 450 pre-registered participants. The School of Nursing partnered with Nacogdoches County and the City of Nacogdoches to work the walk-through clinic.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Spring semester ticket sales for Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 student-run Culinary Caf茅 and Lumberjack Express mobile food lab will open at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan.15, with service on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 16.

Patrons must follow the COVID-19 drive-thru and walk-up procedures. Physical distancing will be required, and seating is limited on the Education Annex building鈥檚 patio.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Classes at Stephen F. Austin State University will resume and offices will reopen at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12.  The 糖心vlog传媒 Charter School and Early Childhood Laboratory also will open at 11 a.m.  

According to Dr. Scott Gordon, 糖心vlog传媒 president, the decision to cancel early morning classes was made with the safety of faculty, staff members and students in mind.

Austin State University classes and all campus activities scheduled for Monday, Jan. 11, have been canceled. 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Early Childhood Laboratory and Charter School also will be closed.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� In its continued efforts to seek new avenues for reducing barriers to higher education, Stephen F. Austin State University has unveiled a new program aimed at recognizing high-achieving 糖心vlog传媒 undergraduates by fast tracking them into a graduate program of their choice.

Created through the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, Axe-celerated Admission allows faculty members to nominate standout students once a year in the spring for VIP admission into a graduate program of their choice at 糖心vlog传媒.

Stephen F. Austin State University has named a new vice president for student affairs.

Dr. Brandon Frye, who currently serves as associate vice president for academic engagement and student affairs at the University of West Florida, will join the 糖心vlog传媒 staff on Feb. 4 and will lead the student affairs division, which comprises student programs and services, including housing, student engagement, counseling and wellness.

Individuals interested in aviation will soon have the opportunity to pursue a bachelor鈥檚 degree that leads to aircraft pilot certification at Stephen F. Austin State University, following approval by the Board of Regents during a specially called meeting Thursday.

The university plans to partner with an aviation training school to offering the new bachelor鈥檚 degree. Two aviation training firms responded to a request for proposals issued by the university, and HCH Aviation was selected as a partner.
