NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 As Alexis Malquist, a Stephen F. Austin State University senior dietetics major from Grapevine, enters the mock hospital room in the 糖心vlog传媒 of Nursing鈥檚 Ed and Gwen Cole Simulation Lab, she begins treating her 鈥減atient,鈥 a mannequin named Miss Hernandez.

鈥淗ow are you feeling, Miss Hernandez?鈥 Malquist asks the high-fidelity mannequin that is serving as a hospital patient for a class project. In this scenario, Malquist must counsel Hernandez on weight management.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students in the hospitality administration program recently traveled to Las Vegas to participate in IMEX America, a worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Students enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 hospitality administration program are sponsoring their first Thanksgiving Cook-off Celebration from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 4 near the Stephen F. Austin statue on the university鈥檚 campus.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Madrigal Singers to present annual fall concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Madrigal Singers at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a choral program, 鈥淪acred and Profane,鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The concert will explore themes of love, nature, the divine and exotic fairy tales, according to Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒.

The program includes 鈥淭rois Chansons,鈥 or 鈥淭hree Chansons,鈥 by Maurice Ravel.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Percussion Ensemble to perform works by Reich, Mellits, De Mey


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the 糖心vlog传媒 Percussion Ensemble in concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Under the direction of Dr. Brad Meyer, director of percussion studies at 糖心vlog传媒, the ensemble will perform works by Thierry De Mey, Steve Reich, Marc Mellits, John Psathas, Owen Clayton Condon and Matt Moore.

Percussionist Whyte to perform works of Becker, Bissell, Hamilton


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Performer, teacher and composer Chris Whyte will present a guest percussion recital at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

The recital, titled 鈥淲ith Tape,鈥 is a feature of the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music鈥檚 Calliope Concert Series and will include a program of works by Bob Becker, Paul Bissell and Bruce Hamilton.

鈥淓ach of the works on this program is for solo percussion with digital audio accompaniment,鈥 Whyte said.

Office of Multicultural Affairs at 糖心vlog传媒 celebrates 25th anniversary


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 During its 25-year existence, the Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Multicultural Affairs has expanded in membership, program offerings and campus-wide interest. But perhaps its biggest success was crafting an indelible space for cultures to come together in celebration of diversity.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stone Fort Wind Quintet at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Cole Concert Hall as part of the School of Music鈥檚 Calliope Concert Series.

The quintet includes 糖心vlog传媒 music faculty members Christina Guenther, flute; Kerry Hughes, oboe; Christopher Ayer, clarinet; Charles Gavin, horn; and Lee Goodhew, bassoon.

The program opens with 鈥淧astorale鈥 by Amy Beach.

糖心vlog传媒 nursing students participate in disaster drill


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - On the heels of Halloween, students enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 of Nursing held a disaster drill that incorporated a zombie attack to help nursing students better prepare for a crisis.

During the crisis simulation, fourth-semester nursing students divided into two groups. One group acted as medics and cared for patients who had been affected by a natural disaster while the other group acted as the patients. To further complicate the scenario, both groups had to endure a zombie attack during the drill.

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens鈥 Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series to feature assistant director of Chicago Botanic Garden


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Andrew Bunting, assistant director of the Chicago Botanic Garden, will present 鈥淢agnolias: Queen of the Garden.鈥
