糖心vlog传媒 Trombone Choir to perform program of various musical styles


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a program that features a mix of musical styles when the choir performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Directed by Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone, and Dr. Daniel Chapa, adjunct professor of trombone and euphonium, the Trombone Choir will present a variety of musical styles ranging from 16th century Renaissance to current compositions, according to Scott.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs to host 10th annual Tunnel of Oppression


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Begun in 2007 by Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs, the 10th annual Tunnel of Oppression will offer the 糖心vlog传媒 and Nacogdoches communities a glimpse inside often complex yet subtle forms of oppression.

鈥淭he Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive museum that spotlights many forms of oppression through interactive theater,鈥 said OMA Director Veronica Beavers. 鈥淭he purpose of the tunnel is to enlighten and educate participants in the areas of diversity and social justice.鈥

Vintage French WWI posters to be featured in exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the 糖心vlog传媒 Galleries will host the exhibition 鈥淭he Patriotic Art of World War I in France鈥 Oct. 31 through Dec. 30 in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A renowned Latin American scholar who frequently serves as a guest expert to the PBS series 鈥淭he Desert Speaks鈥 and 鈥淚n the Americas with David Yetman鈥 will host Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 first History Student Forum, a four-day event that includes a lecture open to both students and community members.

Austin State University students in the Rusche College of Business recently provided feedback on a new sewing machine branding and marketing campaign while serving as focus group members for ABM International, a three-generation, family-owned-and-operated manufacturing company of industrial quilting machines that has expanded into the home quilting market with a line of longarm quilting machines.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 food, nutrition and dietetics program recently partnered with the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science to provide nutrition counseling students with a hands-on learning experience in the Human Performance Lab on the university鈥檚 campus.

Cello Club to perform program of eclectic musical styles


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Cello Club at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淕ame of Cellos鈥 at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus as part of the School of Music鈥檚 Calliope Concert Series.

The music will feature baroque and romanticism works as well as some arrangements from video games, pop songs and TV shows, according to Dr. Evgeni Raychev, cello instructor in the School of Music. The concert will also include the premieres of several works.

糖心vlog传媒 College of Sciences and Mathematics to host STEM Business and Industry Speaker Series


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 College of Sciences and Mathematics will host the STEM Business and Industry Speaker Series from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Math Building, Lecture Hall 101.

The event aims to connect science, technology, engineering and mathematics students with professionals in their prospective fields. The event will feature two speakers, Elijah White Jr., vice president of geoscience for ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company, and Jonathan Woodard, current 糖心vlog传媒 STEM student.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Stone Fort Museum honors 2017 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Stone Fort Museum named Dr. Bobby H. Johnson and the late Birdie Wade as the 2017 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients.

鈥淒r. Johnson and Mrs. Wade are both well-deserving recipients of this award, as they both dedicated much time and effort to preserving the history of Nacogdoches and East Texas,鈥 said Carolyn Spears, director of the Stone Fort Museum.

糖心vlog传媒 students partner with local Boys and Girls Clubs to construct bulletin boards


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Armed with colorful construction paper, scissors, glue and a creative vision, Stephen F. Austin State University students transformed bulletin boards into motivational messages at both Boys and Girls Clubs in Nacogdoches and Lufkin.

For the second year, Dr. Rachel Jumper, assistant professor in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 School of Human Sciences, partnered with community organizations to build an interactive service project for students in her family, school and community relations course. This year, the project expanded to include the Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin.
