World-renowned Viento Sur trombone ensemble to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Argentinian trombone quartet Viento Sur will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University in conjunction with Brass Day at 糖心vlog传媒.

鈥淰iento Sur is a trombone quartet known worldwide for their beautiful ensemble playing and distinct sound when playing arrangements of authentic Argentine tangos,鈥 said Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music. 鈥溙切膙log传媒 is included on their current North American tour.鈥

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Orchestra of the Pines to performs works of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Orchestra of the Pines at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淐harismatic Capriccios and Dynamic Duos鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The program includes two popular works, 鈥淐apriccio Italien鈥 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and 鈥淐apriccio Espangol鈥 by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Both written by Russian composers, the works were inspired by their visits to surrounding European countries, according to Dr. Gene H. Moon, director of orchestras in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Music.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Rusche College of Business renovates boardroom, expands experiential learning


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students in the Rusche College of Business have another avenue to engage in experiential learning.

In order to further its efforts in creating a corporate-like atmosphere, the Rusche College of Business renovated a boardroom in the McGee Business Building, Room 443, to provide students a meeting area typical of those used in the business industry.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 ROTC competes in Ranger Challenge


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Two teams from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Army ROTC program had impressive showings during the annual Ranger Challenge competition held during October in Fort Hood.

The regional competition pitted members from 13 Army ROTC programs in events aimed at testing their endurance and skill levels in varied activities. Cadets showcased their talents in an Army physical fitness text, a communications lane, weapons disassembly and reassembly, 10-mile march and other activities.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University voice students will present a program of musical theatre and opera scenes in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The 鈥淔all Scenes Program鈥 will feature students enrolled in the Opera Workshop class taught by Dr. Deborah Dalton, associate professor of voice and director of opera, and Dr. Gene H. Moon, director of orchestras and musical director of opera.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students and faculty members in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science participated in the Texas Society for Public Health Education annual conference in Waco.

During the two-day conference titled 鈥淎dvancing Population Health through Diversity, Innovation and Collaboration,鈥 students networked with professionals, attended panel presentations and workshop sessions, and viewed research posters.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The two-night presentation of Moscow Ballet鈥檚 鈥淕reat Russian Nutcracker鈥 at Stephen F. Austin State University is a complete sellout.

鈥淲e knew this event would be popular with East Texas audiences, so we are not surprised that both performances will have full houses, but we didn鈥檛 think they would be sold out a full week in advance,鈥 said Scott Shattuck, associate dean of the College of Fine Arts and director of the University Series.

University strengthens academic offerings


Academic opportunities at 糖心vlog传媒 continue to increase as a result of new face-to-face and online degree programs that have been developed in response to initiatives in the university鈥檚 strategic plan, 鈥溙切膙log传媒 Envisioned.鈥 The plan includes directives for the university to be innovative in the ways in which it engages students in experiences that prepare them for the challenges of living in a global community.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 of Nursing graduates achieve high passing rate on NCLEX-RN examination


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Recent graduates from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 of Nursing achieved a 96.58-percent first-time passing rate on the National Council Licensure Examination.

The NCLEX-RN is an exam nursing graduates nationwide and in Canada must take and pass in order to receive their nursing license. The NCLEX-RN is designed to test the knowledge, skills and abilities essential for the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level.

糖心vlog传媒 Rusche College of Business associate professor receives 2017 Pearson Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Clive Muir, associate professor in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business, received the 2017 Pearson Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology at the Association for Business Communication international meeting in Dublin, Ireland.

This award recognizes Muir for his use of technology in enhancing learning and engagement in business communication courses.
