糖心vlog传媒 education studies professors receive Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant to support East Texas outdoor program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Faculty members in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Department of Education Studies were awarded funding through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department鈥檚 Community Outdoor Outreach Program to support their East Texas Adventurers program, an environmental education-focused camping initiative.

The funding will support the creation of four camping trips that invite students from Nacogdoches鈥 McMichael Middle School to interact with and learn from nature.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of 鈥淜abluey,鈥 a dark indie comedy film written and directed by and starring Scott Prendergast, at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre and Dance will present the student-directed dramedy for young audiences 鈥淣ice & Slow鈥 by Lojo Simon at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, and at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Black Box Theatre in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

World renowned clarinetist, pianist to perform at 糖心vlog传媒


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Clarinetist Dr. Vanguel Tangarov and pianist Ekaterina Tangarova will present a guest recital featuring works by Carl Maria von Weber, Alamiro Giampieri, Francis Poulenc and Marin Valtchanov when the duo performs at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

The program will include von Weber鈥檚 鈥淔antasy and Rondo,鈥 Giampieri鈥檚 鈥淐arnival of Venice,鈥 Sonata by Poulenc, and Rondo by Valtchanov.

Percussionist Horey to present 鈥榊in and Yang, Marimba and Drums鈥 concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Scotty Horey, instructor of percussion at the Music School of Delaware, will present 鈥淵in and Yang, Marimba and Drums鈥 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the Music Recital Hall, Wright Music Building, on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra to present Schubert鈥檚 Symphony No. 8, 鈥淯nfinished鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Franz Schubert鈥檚 Symphony No. 8, 鈥淯nfinished,鈥 will be the main feature of a concert presented by the Stephen F. Austin State University Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in Cole Concert Hall, Wright Music Building, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The student ensemble will also perform Aaron Copland鈥檚 鈥淟etter from Home鈥 and Leo Delibe鈥檚 Prelude and Mazurka from the ballet 鈥淐oppelia.鈥

The Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Oliver Yan, graduate assistant conductor from Hong Kong.

糖心vlog传媒 biology students receive scholarships, awards at Texas Chapter - American Fisheries Society annual meeting


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Two graduate students from Stephen F. Austin State University's Department of Biology have been recognized for their exceptional contributions at the 2024 annual meeting of the Texas Chapter - American Fisheries Society.

Anastasia (Umstott) Simpson, a first-year graduate student advised by Dr. Carmen Monta帽a-Schalk, assistant professor of biology, was awarded the best oral presentation. Her groundbreaking research focuses on the examination of fish communities in East Texas rivers and streams.

糖心vlog传媒 Sylvans win 65th annual Southern Forestry Conclave


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Sylvans, Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 timbersports team, won the 65th annual Southern Forestry Conclave, marking 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 sixth consecutive first-place title. 

Hosted by the University of Florida March 14-16 at Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center in Micanopy, Florida, the competition featured 12 other universities. 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 team placed first in technical events and second in physical events to earn an overall score of 289 points. 

STEM Academy students advance to state, international science and engineering fairs


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 STEM Research and Learning Center supported the development of 13 high school students to advance to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair, with hopes of advancing to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University students learned about the humane treatment of animals in the food chain during an early March panel discussion hosted by the Rusche College of Business Department of Business Communication and Legal Studies.
