NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯�� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation, in association with the Texas Forest Country Partnership and Texas Forest Trail Region, will host the Rural Texas Travel and Tourism Conference March 7 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom on 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 campus. 

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� A solo exhibition of works by Candace Hicks, associate professor of art in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open in mid-February in the The Artspace Gallery, North Las Vegas campus of the College of Southern Nevada.

Hicks鈥� exhibition features work from her series 鈥淣otes for String Theory.鈥� The show runs Feb. 16 through April 20. An artist talk and reception is planned for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26.

Hick explains that her work centers on 鈥渂eing a reader of fiction.鈥�

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders has openings in the Little Jacks program for children ages three to four experiencing communication concerns.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS 鈥� Formerly a course at Stephen F. Austin State University called 鈥淧en & Pigment,鈥� 鈥淲ords of Art鈥� is a student organization-led collaborative event that presents contributors with publication and exhibition opportunities.

Students who participated in 鈥淧en & Pigment鈥� engaged with one another to produce cohesive paintings and poetry that effectively correlated their disciplines.

Austin State University dance faculty and guest artists Elias Kababa, Lacreacia Sanders and Torens Johnson will be featured in the program "Omnium-gatherum" presented Feb. 15 through 17 in W.M. Turner Auditorium, Griffith Fine Arts Building, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� The University Series at Stephen F. Austin State University brings comedian Joe Zimmerman to Nacogdoches for a performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in W.M. Turner Auditorium, Griffith Fine Arts Building, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

A favorite of late-night shows such as 鈥淭he Tonight Show,鈥� 鈥淟ast Comic Standing鈥� and 鈥淐omedy Central,鈥� Zimmerman is a frequent performer on university campuses and at corporate events.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥� Dr. Matibur Zamadar, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Stephen F. Austin State University, has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for his second invention of a drug to treat bacteria that is resistant to most existing antibiotics and kills millions of people around the world with an invasive infection.
