ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ choir concert features American composers


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Choral Union and Women's Choir of Stephen F.Austin State University will present a joint concert, "Made in the USA: Three Centuries of American Choral Music," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

"We are pleased to be sharing with East Texas an entire concert of music by American composers," said David Howard, ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ associate director of choirs and conductor of both ensembles.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ to open fast food photography exhibition


Susana Raab's "A Chicken in Love, Athens, Ohio" is one of the photographs included in "Consumed: Fast Food in the US," which the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ School of Art will open at 6 p.m. Monday, March 22, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

Acclaimed composer Marvin Hamlisch to perform at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½


Award-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch, known around the world for his film scores, will present "An Evening with Marvin Hamlisch" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, in W.M. Turner Auditorium as part of the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ College of Fine Arts' University Series.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ to host Preserve America Workshop


Stephen F. Austin State University will host the Preserve America Workshop: Cemetery Preservation-Tourism on Friday, March 12, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Room 2.106.

The workshop begins at 11 a.m. with lectures on cemetery preservation, cemetery access and tourism readiness, followed by a field trip to a local monument company. The workshop will conclude with a headstone identification seminar from 3 to 4 p.m.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ to give back to the community during The BIG Event


Students from Stephen F. Austin State University are seeking opportunities to help the community during The BIG Event, an afternoon of service projects in the city of Nacogdoches and the surrounding county, on Friday, April 23.

The BIG Event, coordinated by the Office of Student Affairs and the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ Volunteer Program, is a way for students to say "thank you" to the surrounding area for its support of the university. Nacogdoches County residents, businesses and non-profit organizations are invited to submit a Job Request Form for The BIG Event by Friday, March 19.

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ horticulture professor to deliver 2010 Regents Lecture


The upcoming Stephen F. Austin State University Regents Lecture will compare ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½'s role in educating and nurturing students to the process of horticulture.

Dr. David L. Creech, former Regents Professor and ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ professor emeritus of horticulture, will deliver the address, "Is ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ more than just another pretty face?"

ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ A Cappella Choir to perform


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS-The A Cappella Choir, the premier vocal ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in Cole Concert Hall on the ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ campus.

Under the baton of Tim King, director of choral activities at ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½, the choir will perform the program it presented while on tour to high schools primarily in the northwest Houston area. Between Sunday, Feb. 21, and Wednesday, Feb 24, the ensemble performed 12 concerts, including evening programs at Blinn College in Brenham and St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston.
